Internal fire on Ethiopian Airlines 787 at London Heathrow

Via BBC:

A Heathrow spokesman said: “We can confirm there has been an on-board internal fire involving an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft and the airport’s emergency services are in attendance.

“The aircraft was parked on a remote parking stand. There were no passengers on board and there are no reported injuries at this time.

“Arrivals and departures are temporarily suspended while airport fire crews attend to this incident. This is a standard procedure if fire crews are occupied with an incident.”

Poor Boeing…

"You sound like a jealous person with American envy"

Oh please, not everyone who complains about/criticizes America does it because they are jealous or envious. Let me know where I can send you some money so you can buy a ladder to get over yourself.

I consider it cheap life insurance to not fly new airplanes for 3 years after launch.

The skin burned near the tail. How is that possible? usually you see this near the fuel tanks, did the APU catch fire?

I pray that some idiot made a mistake and caused this fire. Otherwise it is the end for this plane, and possible for Boeing.

Why poor Boeing? They are one of two companies who own this market and based on their experience building very good planes such as the 737,747 and 777 they really should do better. Every new plane has issues in the beginning, but this has gone on for too long and Boeing needs to own up to it. I think they are still in denial over the 787 fiasco.

@A.S. "if it were an Airbus, it would have been banned from the US Skies for much less" -- like Wing Cracks? I still see A380's flying.

Boeing set forth to build a new aircraft from the ground up with new technology, new processes, and a global supply chain. There is risk, yet the efficiencies of the aircraft are clearly swaying airlines. Once they get the "kinks" worked out, this will be a distant memory.

A.S. -You are a dipstick if there ever was one! Boeing IS the World Leader in Aircraft manufacturing and they have the most expertise over anyone. So it's something that the company takes very seriously and obviously is working towards fixing. While the aircraft is in need of more review -I have flown on it several times which was great and it's ONE out of a few early deliveries that needs to be closely examined....

So it's something that the company takes very seriously and obviously is working towards fixing. While the aircraft is in need of more review -I have flown on it several times which was great and it's ONE out of a few early deliveries that needs to be closely examined. Not all 787s have had issues and I do remember coutless issues with the A380 including the 70 million that the company spent just in recent years to fix all the cracked wings and other structural issues. You sound like a jealous person with American envy who is a lost soul and that is most unfortunate for you. However next time you take a jab at a company that has thousands of highly skilled workers who help safely put people in the skies millions of times over, you might want to at least alert the readers by adding last "S" on your initals becasue clearly you are an A. S. S.!

Why poor Boeing? They make a crappy and potentially dangerous product, they deserve the bad rap. What other aircraft catches fire spontaneously? The authorities are protecting a large US business at our expense. Again. If it were an Airbus, it would have been banned from US skies for much less.

I'm perfectly content to stick to Boeings 747, 67, 77 lineup for the time being until they figure out wtf is wrong with the 87. Seems like the rolled the thing out much too early.

Never good when something just spontaneously catches fire.

WIll I be censored? This plane is UNSAFE at present and I would not fly one. There are plenty of well-proven aircraft out there and I feel no need to be part of their live beta-testing. As a former aerospace engineer myself I see far too many new technologies lumped into a new design for comfort.

Big sell off (on a intraday basis) of its shares. Now falling about 7%.
