Save On Air France-KLM Flights With Amex Offers (Targeted)

9

The Amex Offers program has just rolled out a great new targeted offer for the purchase of Air France-KLM flights, which could be worth considering for anyone planning travel. We saw this offer over the summer, and it’s nice to see it return.

Spend $1,000+ with Air France-KLM, earn 20K Amex points

With a new targeted Amex Offers deal, you can earn 20,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $1,000 or more with Air France-KLM by December 1, 2023. It’s possible that there’s also a version of the offer for a $200 statement credit rather than 20,000 points, but I’d consider the points to be more valuable.

Earn up to 20K bonus points with an Air France-KLM booking

There are some terms to be aware of:

  • The flight needs to be booked directly through the Air France or KLM website or app
  • The flight needs to originate in the United States and be charged in USD
  • While you need to book travel by December 1, 2023, it’s okay if you travel on subsequent dates
  • With Air France, the offer excludes Air France Music, Air France Saphir, Air France Shopping, convention, conference, and seminar services, baggage drop off, group reservations, La Boutique Air France, parking, Stress Free Flying workshop, flight crew training, and the Flying Blue Store
  • With KLM, the offer excludes KLM Package Deals, City Pass Amsterdam, hotel bookings, car rentals, ground transportation, tours, airport transfers, equipment services, Shop@KLM, purchases of miles, lounge access fees, KLM Jet Center, and KLM Wanna Gives

Ideally you’ll see this offer on the Amex Platinum

This offer is targeted, though it’s possible you’ll see it on multiple of your Amex cards. If so, I’d highly recommend registering your Amex Platinum Card for this offer. That’s because the Amex Platinum offers 5x points on airfare purchased directly with airlines.

I value Membership Rewards points at 1.7 cents each, so to me those points alone are worth an incremental 8.5% return. On top of that, the Amex Platinum offers excellent travel protection, should you experience irregular operations.

In other words, if you took advantage of this offer with the Amex Platinum for a $1,000 ticket, you’d earn 5,000 Membership Rewards points for the cost of the flight, plus 20,000 Membership Rewards points for this offer, for a total of 25,000 points. Personally I value those points at $425, so that’s an incredible return on spending with Air France-KLM.

Save on an Air France flight with Amex Offers

Bottom line

There’s a new targeted Amex Offers deal for 20,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $1,000+ on an Air France-KLM flight. If you’re planning travel on Air France or KLM, this has the potential to be a great deal. Ideally you’ll see this offer on the Amex Platinum, so that you can really maximize your points.

Were you targeted for this Amex Offers deal, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?

I added over 80 offers and it still won’t pop up. It’s complete waste of time

Seems counterintuitive that my AmEx PLT card gives me 5x points when I book through AmexTravel.com but they have a 20k bonus for booking on the airlines website. I guess it doesn't allow you to double dip.

You get 5x booking on the airline’s site too.

Can you book with points and spend the $1000 on taxes and fees?

Noticed that purchasing points was specifically excluded on KLM but not AF. Does this mean AF points purchase would qualify for the spend?

Thanks for flagging this. Amex makes it hard to find these with the limit displaying maximum 100 available offers at a time. Mine was buried and I had to “add” about 50-70 offers (lost track) to have this one pop up.

So stupid/user-unfriendly. There’s probably some supposed justification for this (forcing you to go through the offers???), but in reality, I bet most don’t do that, which defeats the whole point of these offers...

Ben — maybe you can raise with the Amex big shots next time you speak with them.

The irony is it also displays a maximum of 100 offers added to your card. Assuming that those added are still there you still wouldn't see what you have added.

      The simple fix.
Add all those useless offers that you don't plan on using on to your newly downgraded NO annual fee Skymiles card. I have over 250+ offers added to that card and expect to spend $0 on any of those offers or on the Skymiles card.

Most of the offers I get are for stupid nonsense like sweaty Betty and all kinds of wine packages. :(

It’s a PITA to see/add on the app/mobile, but easy if you use a Chrome based desktop browser.

Google “Amex offer adding bookmark” variations and find the js bookmark that adds all your offers.

As for not being able to see more than 100 once added. You can choose subcategories (like travel) and see all of them.
