World of Hyatt is currently offering a global promotion for 500-1,000 bonus points per night for stays at their properties globally, which runs through May 15, 2018.
While more niche, World of Hyatt has just announced another promotion, this time for stays at M Life properties. Hyatt and MGM have had a partnership since 2013, which I consider to be the best opportunity for mainstream points enthusiasts to earn and redeem points for major Las Vegas hotels. You can earn World of Hyatt points and elite qualifying nights at the usual rates for these stays.
This newly announced promotion is valid between May 7 and July 31, 2018, and allows World of Hyatt members to earn 20% bonus points on eligible stays at the Hyatt Place Las Vegas or any participating MGM Resort destination in Las Vegas.
To be eligible, registration is required between April 23 and July 31, 2018, and you must be a member of both World of Hyatt and M Life Rewards. There’s no limit to how many bonus points you can earn through this promotion, and bonus points should post 3-4 weeks after the completion of a stay.
Here are the list of properties that are eligible for the promotion:
- Hyatt Place Las Vegas
- MGM Grand
- The Signature at MGM Grand
- Mandalay Bay
- Delano Las Vegas
- The Mirage
- Monte Carlo
- New York-New York
World of Hyatt members ordinarily earn five World of Hyatt points per dollar spent, so this means that you’re earning an extra point for every dollar spent at a property in Las Vegas.
Personally that’s not going to move the needle in deciding where I stay. I value World of Hyatt points at 1.5 cents each, so to me that’s like an additional 1.5% return on spend, which is hardly worth changing your travel patterns over.
Now, big picture I do generally like to stay at MGM properties in Las Vegas because of the M Life partnership. It’s great to earn Hyatt elite qualifying nights and points for MGM stays, as I consider that to be the best Las Vegas partnership of any hotel group. However, an additional point per dollar wouldn’t be the thing that pushes me to do that. If it were a 100% bonus rather than a 20% bonus then maybe, but…
I think the biggest trick to maximizing the World of Hyatt points you earn in Vegas is to realize that you can charge purchases from any MGM outlet to your folio at the MGM hotel you’re staying at, and then you earn the full points for all of that spend. So no matter which of the great restaurants or shops you’re visiting, you can earn five (or more) World of Hyatt points per dollar spent for those purchases.
Anyone planning on going to Las Vegas, and intend to take advantage of this promotion?
