Daily Getaways 2018 Preview List

In mid-February I first wrote about how Daily Getaways will be returning this year. For those of you not familiar, Daily Getaways is a promotion, sponsored by the US Travel Association, which has been offered annually since 2011 to encourage US tourism. The promotion has consisted of all kinds of travel packages, including offers on car rentals, hotel stays, loyalty program points, and theme park admission. Here’s an example of some of the 2017 travel packages.

We’ve known that Daily Getaways will be returning this year, with the first packages going for sale on April 9, 2018. Today Daily Getaways released a preview list of the packages we can expect this year. The packages will go on sale at 1PM ET every weekday between April 9 and May 9, 2018.

So far they’ve released the full lists for week one & week two, so you can check out the details of each package there. Beyond the full previews available for the first two weeks, here are the details I have for the entire schedule:

The ability to buy points is usually what interests me most with Daily Getaways, and this year it looks like we’ll have the ability to buy points from Choice Privileges, Hilton Honors, IHG Rewards Club, World of Hyatt, Wyndham Rewards. On top of that, there will be discounted Marriott gift cards on sale. Based on the previews for the first two weeks, it looks like Choice Privileges points will be on sale for as little as 0.48 cents each, IHG Rewards Club points will be on sale for as little as 0.58 cents each, and Wyndham Rewards points will be on sale for 1.17 cents each.

As usual, I suspect the best offers will sell out really quickly, and will be more like a lottery than anything else.

What are your thoughts on the Daily Getaways preview list?

Comments

  1. I managed to snag an Omni award last year, but nothing else I tried for. I am not sure it is worth the effort and disappointment.

  2. seems like last time there were a lot of leftover points packages that didn’t really sell out fast. I see there are 2000 of the IHG 130K offers. So those should be relatively easy to get. But for $750 I wonder how worthwhile that is since they have been raising the points needed for a night.

    Isn’t a $1000 gift card for $650 35% off (not 45%)?

  3. When will they announce details on week 3-5??

I’m going to Vegas this fall and tempted to buy the package for Luxor. $500 for 4 nights in a room, tickets to Blue Man Group and $400 in good credit is a pretty solid deal.

But i’d love to see what some of the other lower/mid-tier Vegas hotel offers are before I commit to Luxor. Or are these deals so popular that I shouldn’t get my hopes up for any of these?

    Thanks.

  4. @Lucky
Do you have quantity information as well? If there are only 15 Hyatt like before then I will give up already.

  5. @alex,

Before you jump on that, try the dates you are interested in on SmarterVegas(.)com and see if they have any discounts at the Luxor or similar hotels. The show tickets can be had for super cheap when you get there at a Tix4Tonight booth, so that shouldn’t be a selling point. A $400 F&B credit is nice, but it appears that it’s restricted to certain dining options at the Luxor. The dining options are Tender Steak & Seafood, Rice & Co., Pyramid Cafe, More Buffet, Backstage Deli and Starbucks. Make sure you will end up spending $400 at those restaurants before you value the F&B credit at face value. It appears alcohol counts towards the credit, so at minimum you can get some nice wine at Tender.

  6. Lucky, could you maybe do a writeup about which of these are the best value, and where you can redeem the best points offers? That would be so appreciated.

  7. @Alex

Those packages are usually very good but they will sell out in half a second, so you’ll have to be fast and lucky.
The $400 dining credit is worth more than the package pretty much if you can use all $400 in their fine dining restaurant (not hard to do).
They are also pretty restrictive with weekend dates. (At least they were at the NYNY).

  8. @Allan

So far only the packages for the first 2 days have gone on sale. On the 9th, they’re sold out and today there are still 2 packages left.
The rest of the deals go on sale on their specific date.
