Hah: Emirates To Introduce New SkyLounge On 777X (April Fools’)

Well, it’s already April in much of the world, and that means we’re going to be inundated with April Fools’ pranks over the coming hours. Airlines love to participate in these, and Emirates seems to be off to an early lead when it comes to jokes for this year. Per their Instagram account:

Emirates reveals SkyLounge, the most exclusive Onboard Lounge to be introduced on its Boeing 777X fleet from 2020. A completely transparent lounge with unmatched aerial views and unparalleled luxury, Emirates SkyLounge promises window views like no other.

However, I’m still waiting for Emirates’ concept from last year:

Emirates unveils plans for the world’s largest commercial aircraft. The triple-decker APR001 includes a swimming pool, games room, gym and park.

Or as much as I usually avoid economy, I was totally onboard with Qatar’s YouSuite concept from last year:

  1. Who knows, somebody might actually announce that glass-roofed onboard lounge on a different day than April 1st…

  2. Emirates concpet from last years doesn’t seem like so much of a prank anymore with the Quantas CEO talking about an exercise area in the cargo hold of long haul flights.

  3. It’s actually within the realm of possibilities given the digital windows Emirates has created for the middle seats on its new 777 first class.

  4. Yes, giant curved screens or projectors could so some parts of the experience. It would quite fun.

  5. I’d love for that to exist (barring engineering hurdles) but can you imagine the heat within that lounge on a daytime flight?!

  6. Given the technology they could do a bar with curved LCD/LED screens on the cabin roof and walls projecting live images from cameras onto them like the new first class 777 middle seats, though pretty boring at night
