Last Chance: Register For A 140% Bonus On Purchased LifeMiles

As I first wrote about last week, LifeMiles is offering OMAAT readers an additional 15% bonus on purchased miles, though registration is required. The deadline to register for the bonus is today (Tuesday, February 27, 2018), and then the deadline to buy miles is tomorrow (you need to wait 24 hours between the time you register and when you buy the miles).

If you’re still interested in taking advantage of this promotion, you’ll want to register on this page using your LifeMiles number today.

You have to wait 24 hours from the time you register until you buy miles through the offer to get the better bonus. You should see the extra 15% reflected on the purchase page once you’re eligible. The sooner today that you register, the sooner tomorrow you can buy miles.

This is an opportunity to buy LifeMiles for as little as 1.375 cents each, which I consider to be a fantastic value.

As far as redeeming LifeMiles go, Avianca is in the Star Alliance, so check out the Star Alliance award chart for redemption rates. To give a few examples of one way premium cabin redemption rates (there are no fuel surcharges on any awards):

  • US to Europe in business class costs 63,000 miles
  • US to Europe in first class costs 87,000 miles
  • US to Southeast Asia in business class costs 78,000 miles
  • US to North Asia in first class costs 90,000 miles

With a specific use in mind, this promotion can be a great value, especially for first class travel on ANA or Asiana. ANA first class between the US and Japan for ~$1,250 one-way is a pretty darn good value, if you ask me.

Or business class between the US and Europe will just run you ~$870, which is great as well.

Of course everyone has to crunch the numbers for themselves and decide whether this makes sense or not.

The one catch is that LifeMiles doesn’t always have access to all the same space that other Star Alliance programs do. So you’ll want to do an online search to make sure the type of redemption you’re looking at is eligible. For example, they often block awards in Lufthansa first class, Austrian business class, all Air China flights, etc. So at times it can be frustrating to find space, but given the great rate at which you can buy LifeMiles, I still love redeeming them.

If you’re interested, register at this link in the next few hours, and buy miles tomorrow.

Thanks to LifeMiles for offering this special promotion!

  1. have you actually managed to redeem any of these miles online lately? I got a nice trip out of them last year booked using the old LM booking engine. The new only ever gives me error messages when I get to the booking stage. Apparently if you send them lots of screenshots and a million other docs by email they will do it, but that is a lot of extra work.

  2. I never post comments here but honestly I’m not sure how you can promote this. I’ve been trying to book a trip via Life Miles for almost two weeks- the online portal crashes, my emails have been “escalated to the internal department” and then ignored, and the call center refuses to help. It’s a great program if the website works, and if it doesn’t they’ll happily take your money and ignore you until you go away or the space is gone.

  3. So, this deal sounds great and I have registered as a LM member yesterday. I’d like to purchase enough miles for a one way return trip from South/Central Asia next February on ANA or other Star Alliance partner that files into YVR. My questions are: are members allowed to utilize LM via a Canadian airport and if I wanted to book business class, I’d need 78,000 miles/person?
