Last week I wrote about the rumor that the 60,000 mile sign-up bonuses on the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Cards were supposed to end soon. We didn’t have an exact date when they’d be pulled, though both the personal and business versions of the cards have excellent offers:

Well, if you’ve been waiting to apply for one of these cards, the sign-up bonus on the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® is expected to be pulled sometime around the middle of the day EST on Thursday, February 8, 2018. So if you haven’t yet applied for this card you’ll want to do so in the coming hours.

For more on the card see the previous post. Personally I value AAdvantage miles at ~1.3 cents each, so I consider the sign-up bonus on the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® to be worth ~$780, which is an excellent sign-up bonus.

If you’ve been waiting to apply and don’t yet have the card, I’d absolutely recommend applying. I assume that the sign-up bonus on the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® will be pulled soon as well, though it might not be tomorrow.

  1. I got an ad in the mail for a Chase MileagePlus Explorer Visa (United Airlines) with a 50,000 mile bonus (with $3000+ spend the first 90 days) plus 5,000 extra miles if there’s an additional cardholder who uses the card at least once during the first 3 months. It expires 3/31/2018. I think 50,000 is 10,000 more than usual. The ad says “Congratulations, you recently earned miles”. My first flight on UA in a long time must have triggered that direct mail ad.

  2. I applied for the citibusiness and was approved last saturday night, my fiance applied saturday and was approved after calling in sunday morning. I’ve heard you should wait 8 days between applications, does that still apply when one is a business card and the other personal? Is there any wriggle room to this rule or its set in stone? i’m thinking of just going for it, we both have +/- 800 credit scores but i dont want to get another hit on my credit report if its just not gonna happen.

  3. Wodnering if anyone knows which of the 3–or all 3 credit check bureaus (equifax, experian, TransUnion) are notified by and check these various cards (so that it’s worth trying):

    US Bank

    Bof A

  4. I just got approved for the Citi Business 60K offer. Thank you for the reminder that this was my last chance. Are there any other cards from other issuers worth applying for around now?

  5. The Barclay Aviator Mastercard is worth applying for as well right now. You get 60000 AA points after making one purchase with card and paying the 95 dollar annual fee. It is a real easy way to get 120000 AA points between the 2 cards.

  6. But I have a email from the saying the offer expires 2/12. Is there a different date for targeted offers? I need to delay as much as possible to hit spending.

  7. To edit my previous statement, the personal plat is still live if you go directly to the application page. The biz plat splash page and application page both still work. Applied for biz around 00:00 PST last night and personal at 6:30 PST and was accepted for both.

  8. Applied on Jan 31 and got the “Thank you for your CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® application. We’re still reviewing it. Depending on how quickly we’re able to process your information, we may post a decision here in 24 hours, so feel free to check back then. We’ll be in touch in approximately 7-10 days via mail or email with a decision.” message

Do you recommend me calling Citi?
