Update: The below links for the Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express are expired, but you can learn more about best available offers here.

Through October 4, 2017, the best ever sign-up bonus on the Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express has returned. The card is offering a sign-up bonus of 100,000 Hilton Honors bonus points after spending $3,000 in purchases within the first three months. On top of that, you get a free weekend night valid at virtually any Hilton Honors hotel on your first cardmember anniversary.

The card has a reasonable $75 annual fee, and also gets you Hilton Honors Gold status for as long as you have the card. That’s great mid-tier hotel status, as it gets you free breakfast, premium rooms, bonus points, etc.

I recently got a suite upgrade at the Hilton Beijing Airport as an Honors Gold member

For those of you who have the Hilton Surpass Card, you can earn a generous bonus of 25,000 Honors points for referring friends to the card. Simply log into your Amex account at this link, and you should see the offer.

You can earn up to 80,000 bonus points per calendar year through this offer, meaning you’d earn 25,000 points for each of your first three successful referrals, and 5,000 points for your fourth successful approval. This is the same referral bonus they offered during the last increased sign-up bonus.

So even if you don’t have the card yet, this is another great reason to apply for it. For example, you could get the card, and then if you have a spouse or friend who is considering applying, you’d get 25,000 bonus points. If you don’t have the card yet, that’s a way to view the sign-up bonus as being potentially even bigger.

The process of referring people to an Amex card is super straightforward. There are two ways you can refer people:

  • You can enter their name and email address, and then Amex will email them a link through which they can apply
  • You’ll also be provided with a personalized link that you can share directly with friends and family

Bottom line

The sign-up bonus on the Hilton Surpass Card doesn’t get better than this. This is a card I have, a card Ford has, a card my mom has, etc. Earning 100,000 points upon completing minimum spend, plus a free weekend night on your account anniversary, is a great sign-up bonus. You can also earn a further 80,000 points by referring people to the card. If you don’t have the card yet you can apply, and shortly after being approved you should already be able to refer people. The refer-a-friend website is usually updated within a few days of being approved.

  1. Love it! Just picked up both Surpass cards and will probably grab the Amex Hilton. Thinking early 2019 at the upcoming Waldorf Astoria Maldives (presuming the make it available with points)

  2. Not a chance. Take a look at the Waldorf in Maui. 235,000 points a night. They may make Maldives “available” with points, but there will be no “standard” rooms

  3. We’ll see. St. Regis was momentarily available on points. Maybe they’ll make the same mistake. Not like I couldn’t find other places to spend it. Conrad Koh Samui probably the alternative.

  4. …and besides which, I found availability at WA Maui for 95k a night, terrace view… so I don’t know what you’re talking about.
