Earn 1,000 Marriott Rewards Points For Using Visa Checkout

All kinds of new credit card technology is being introduced, including more mobile payment options. Credit card companies and payment networks are doing everything they can to get people to sign-up, in hopes of capturing more of your wallet share. For example, they hope that once you install a mobile payment option you’ll start using it regularly.

We see promotions encouraging people to try this new technology all the time. For example, this morning I wrote about how you can get a $20 Starbucks gift card for $10 using Visa Checkout.

Well, for those who prefer to earn points (or want to earn points in addition to other things), there’s yet another promotion, and you can actually stack the two.

Through September 24, 2017 (as long as supplies last), you can earn up to 1,000 bonus Marriott Rewards points when you sign-up for Visa Checkout and use it for the first time (unfortunately existing users aren’t eligible for this offer):

  • Earn 500 Marriott Rewards points when you sign up for Visa Checkout through marriott.com
  • Earn 500 Marriott Rewards points when you use Visa Checkout within 15 days of signing up (this doesn’t have to be for a Marriott purchase — any purchase qualifies)

To earn the points, be sure the email addresses on your Marriott Rewards and Visa Checkout accounts match. If eligible, bonus points should post within 6-8 weeks of the end of the promotion.

This is a super easy promotion that’s worth taking advantage of. Like I said above, you could sign-up for Visa Checkout through this promotion, then buy a $20 Starbucks gift card for $10 through the other promotion, and you’d receive a total of 1,000 Marriott Rewards points plus a $20 Starbucks gift card for $10. That’s quite a deal!

Of course this all assumes you don’t already have a Visa Checkout account.

Does anyone plan on taking advantage of this promotion?

  1. Thanks for the heads up Lucky, I just took advantage of this and it was quick and painless! I was also targeted for a Groupon $10 Starbucks gift card for $5. So this morning I have earned $30 in Starbucks gift cards & 1,000 Marriott points for only $15, not bad!

  2. I created a Visa Checkout account to take advantage of the Starbucks eGift card before seeing posts about the Marriott points offer so I thought was out of luck but as it turns out (and pointed out by DoC) the Marriott terms state “Email address on Visa Checkout account must match email address associated with Marriott Rewards member account.” I created a second Visa Checkout account thru Marriott and purchased another eGift card from Starbucks and was able to successfully get the $10 bonus a second time (and hopefully the 1000 Marriott points).

  3. Quite odd that the sign-up form in which you enter your credit card info is not a secure connection.

  4. I took advantage of the Starbucks promo and email matches my Marriott account. Does Visa checkout just track the email and bounce that email against Marriott’s own database to grant the reward points?

  5. How long did it take your points to post after you registered? I registered 24 hours ago and the points haven’t showed up yet.
