Earlier this week I posted about the most INSANE Wyndham Rewards redemption opportunity I had ever seen. There was a Baymont Inn and Suites in Casper Wyoming that was charging $1,500 for August 20th, which of course is the night before the Great American Solar Eclipse of 2017. We’re already set on lodging camping in nearby Glendo, but I have a few friends who are trying to find somewhere to stay. So I tried to book the room for 15,000 points.
Then I remembered that I only have about 6,000 Wyndham points in my account. Dammit.
Wyndham also doesn’t have any transfer partners. Dammit.
And while they’ll let you buy points, you are capped at 5,000 per year. Dammit.
In the end, I was stuck staring at the best Wyndham redemption I had ever seen with no way to book it.
I promised myself then and there not to get caught with my pants down when the next total solar eclipse came around in 2024. I started looking at the best ways to get some Wyndham points.
Sure enough, as Ben posted about a week ago, there is a really good Wyndham offer for 15,000 points after two stays when you pay with Masterpass. That alone would be good for one night, but today Frequent Miler pointed out there’s another Wyndham offer that can be stacked. It’s targeted, but from what I’ve seen, most folks have received something.

Way back on June 28, Wyndham seems to have sent out emails to members offering them some amount of bonus points for a 1-night stay. The subject of the email was This BIG offer is for you, ’cause we miss you. A better title would have been, you’ll probably miss this email amidst all the other crap we send you…
Once I found the email, I discovered that my offer was for 3,000 bonus points after one stay. My wife’s offer was for 10,000 bonus points, which seems to be the highest offer that anyone has received. Neither of us is particularly active with Wyndham, but hers has definitely been more dormant.

If you can’t find the email, don’t worry. It seems that the offer shows up in your promotions when you log into your Wyndham account.

You do need to register for it, however, and must do so by September 30, 2017. Then you have until October 9 to complete the stay.

Will these Wydham promotions stack?
My expectation is that you can combine the Masterpass Wyndham offer with the ’cause we miss you bonus points. My wife would earn 25,000 Wyndham points after two stays. That’s almost enough for two free nights at any Wyndham property, which is a heckuva deal.
Bottom line
There is a targeted offer for bonus Wyndham points after a 1-night stay. The maximum offer seems to be for 10,000 points, while the minimum that I’ve heard of is 2,000 points. When combined with the Masterpass offer for 15,000 points after two stays, this might just be mattress runable.
So now I’m all set with lodging for the 2024 solar eclipse, right? Well, not quite. I just remembered that Wyndham points expire 48 months after they are deposited into your account. Dammit.

I only got the bonus points for my Wyndham stay, but I did not receive the 7500 pts for using masterpass.
Has anyone encountered this? Is there something I can do to claim them?

I did get both bonuses - for the stay and for booking using Master Pass. I booked two rooms simultaneously. One for me and one for my friends. But only wound up getting one Master Pass bonus.

I Would Also Think I Would Receive This Bonus As I Am Also A Platinum Rewards Member Soon To Be Diamond Status And I Stay Frequently. I Do Not Understand The Fact That I Didn't Receive This Bonus. As The Person Stated Above That Is Also A Platinum Member You Would Think As Platinum Status (that requires ALOT of stays)...

I Just Emailed Them Asking Why I Didn't Get The Bonus Or A Bonus For Loyalty. We Will See I Guess....
And BTW Wyndam Rewards Is Always So Helpful and Friendly but Also I Called To Make Reservations The Other Day And Use "Go Fast" and I Have Before With No Issues, This Time I Was Told That There Were Only 3 Rooms At The Hotel I Requested For The "Go Fast" And I Was Told They Were Already Booked! ONLY 3 Rooms For Go Fast?! And This Is A Huge Hotel And You Would Think More Than Just 3 Rooms Would Be Available For Go Fast. It Should Be Any Room Available As You Pay Half The Amount and Wyndam Pays Half When Using Go Fast, So The Money Is Paid. It Is Ridiculous Only have 3 Rooms For The Go Fast Option. My Thoughts Anyway.....
@Jackie - you turned down 25K points for a 1 night stay? I'd book at room at the Super 8 near my house for $79.00, check in and then go back home. Aeroplan has been offering a 35% bonus to convert Wyndham points to Aeroplan miles.

No offer here. No reason for them to miss me as a WR Plat with several recent and upcoming stays, I guess.
The offer was not on my account when I logged in. However, when I clicked a link to the promotion someone posted, I was able to register.
My experience with "targeted" offers is that when I don't receive one but read about it on OMAAT, I just call the hotel or airline toll free number and ask them to give it to me. I've never been turned down yet. I've also done the same thing to improve my loyalty status - I call when I know I've got a trip coming up and I ask for a status challenge (i.e. 4 stays...

Then once they agree and register my challenge, I immediately go online and book my stays. Instant status upgrade!
I received the 3,000 points offer back then. At first I was quite happy because of the "until October 9" and I have a stay coming up early October.
However, when reading the fine print I discovered that you have to check in no later than September 30.
So, unfortunately, I am not able to make use of that promotion. There is absolutely no need for me to stay anywhere before October. And...

Maybe something will come up for Q4?
