Save 50% On A Spotify Premium Subscription With A Capital One Card

In the interest of full disclosure, One Mile At A Time earns a referral bonus for anyone that’s approved through some of the below links. These are the best publicly available offers that we have found for each card. Please check out our advertiser policy for further details about the partners we work with. Thanks for your support!

Update: While the other perks of these cards are still valid, the Spotify promotion ended on April 30, 2018.

One of the cool things about Capital One is that they often have partnerships with other brands that can save you quite a bit of money. For example, in 2015 Capital One cardmembers could get discounts on Uber rides, and in 2016 Uber and Capital One partnered to launch a loyalty program. It’s great to see these kinds of initiatives.

While not directly travel related, here’s another cool promotion for Capital One cardmembers. Those with the Capital One Quicksilver® Card or Capital One QuicksilverOne® Card can save 50% on the cost of a Spotify Premium membership through April 30, 2018. The reward will come in the form of a statement credit on your card.

For those of you not familiar with Spotify, it’s one of the most popular music streaming services. It provides access to over 30 million songs, and for many it’s a good alternative to using iTunes, where you have to buy each individual song, etc. I’m a Spotify user, and part of what I love about it is that they have all kinds of playlists you can subscribe to. In other words, other people have created popular playlists that include a bunch of artists, and you can subscribe to those, which gives you a nice variety of music.

While you can subscribe to Spotify for free, it does have ads, so I find a premium membership to be worthwhile. Spotify Premium gets you ad-free music, the ability to download music so you can listen to it even when your’e not connected to wifi (which is ideal for frequent flyers), allows you to play any song, and lets you skip music, which you can’t do with the free version.

Spotify Premium is reasonably priced, with monthly options that vary depending on the type of account you’re looking at:

  • Spotify Premium costs $9.99 per month
  • Spotify Premium For Family costs $14.99 per month, and gets up to six people Spotify Premium
  • Spotify Premium For Students costs $4.99 per month, and is only available to students at US schools

If you’re new to Spotify Premium and have the Capital One Quicksilver or Capital One QuicksilverOne, you can sign-up for a free three month trial before starting your $9.99 per month subscription (on which you will get a credit of 50%). This offer is valid through June 15, 2017. Getting Spotify Premium for under $5 per month, or getting Spotify Premium for Families for under $7.50 per month, is a heck of a deal.

Bottom line

It’s great to see Capital One grow the number of partnerships like these that they have. If you’re a Capital One customer and Spotify user, this promotion can easily save you ~$60 or more.

  1. New accounts only…but those are easy to create. Still not sure it’s worth it, I typically get a Come Back to Premium offer of 3 months for $9.99 total.

  2. Heads up to anyone with a .edu email address—you can get Spotify premium for only $5/month.

  3. @Robert – the email I originally received said that if I had an existing account to just ensure I pay with my Quicksilver card. “If you already have Premium, just make sure you’re paying with your Quicksilver card to start taking advantage of this offer. ” So it doesn’t seem to be limited to new accounts.

  4. I made a Philippines account (there are guides online) which works out to be around $2.50 a month.
