Today Only: Earn Additional Bonus Miles For Apple Purchases

Online shopping portals can be a great way to pick up additional miles & points for purchases you’d make anyway. Just for following a specific link you can earn bonus points in addition to the ones you’d earn anyway for credit card spend.

It’s not uncommon to see huge mileage bonuses on high margin businesses (like flower shops, online dating sites, etc.). 😉 However, it’s rare to see increased mileage bonuses from retailers like Apple.

Today only (March 9, 2017), the American AAdvantage eShopping portal is offering four miles per dollar spent with Apple.

This is in addition to their current spring bonus tiered promotion, offering:

  • 300 bonus miles after spending $150
  • 1,000 bonus miles after spending $350

In other words, through this promotion a $500 Apple purchase would earn you 3,000 bonus miles. I value those miles at ~1.5 cents each, so to me that’s a return of $45, or 9%. That doesn’t include the miles you’d earn for the actual credit card spend. That’s pretty good for an Apple purchase, if you ask me.

The terms for the promotion are as follows:

Please note these terms & conditions: Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site. Not eligible on gift cards, gift certificates or any other similar cash equivalents. Rewards are issued by this site, not Apple. Apple AirPods are not eligible for reward. Newly released products may not be eligible for reward. Additional products not eligible for rewards are gift cards, gift wrap, One to One Membership, Bose products, and shipping. Apple sells and ships products to end user customers only; you may not purchase for resale. Eligible only to a customer for up to five (5) units per eligible product, except iPhone, in which case only two (2) units within a thirty-day (30-day) period are eligible.

If you were planning on making an Apple purchase anyway soon, I’d certainly recommend taking advantage of this.

  1. I was on UR yesterday and they were offering 4ur/$. Not sure how long that’ll last

  2. Aeroplan was offering 5pts/$ last week, though I just checked and that seems to have ended. Definitely a brand to track for when you are going to make a larger purchase.

  3. A few years ago I bought a $1000 Macbook at the Apple Store and exchanged it the next day because of some defect.

The exchange showed up in these shopping portals as a return, so I lost all my points, and customer service couldn’t care less.

  4. @Lucky, just add a disclaimer that you will not be responsible if anyone does not get the bonus miles after the episode 😉
