Today Only: Earn 15 United Miles Per Dollar Spent At 15 Retailers (Including Bose!)

Online shopping portals can be a great way to pick up additional miles & points for purchases you’d make anyway. Just for following a specific link you can earn bonus points in addition to the ones you’d earn anyway for credit card spend.

Through 11:59PM ET today, Monday, December 5, 2016, you can earn 15 bonus United miles per dollar spent at 15 retailers.

I value United miles at ~1.4 cents each, so to me the 15 miles per dollar are the equivalent of a ~21% return on your spend, not including any points earned with a credit card.

Eligible retailers for this promotion include the following:

  • Backcountry
  • Bose
  • eBags
  • Harry & David
  • JoS. A. Bank
  • Neiman Marcus
  • New Balance
  • Nike
  • Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th
  • Sephora
  • Shoebuy
  • Shutterfly
  • Sunglass Hut
  • Sur La Table
  • Rosetta Stone

There are a few values here I don’t consider to be especially noteworthy. For example, I see big portal bonuses for eBags all the time. However, if you’re doing some holiday shopping for the traveler in your life, perhaps Bose is the most interesting one to point out, as they make my favorite travel headphones.

They rarely discount their products, so being able to earn a ~25% return in terms of points from your spend (when factoring in credit card points) is a great value.

I typically use to compare shopping portal bonuses, and as you’ll see there, the next best option is earning three bonus miles per dollar spent at Bose.

Anyone plan on taking advantage of the excellent 15 mile per dollar bonus through United’s shopping portal today?

(Tip of the hat to The Points Guy)

  1. Don’t forget that some of these like Nike are also MileagePlusX vendors, so you have the opportunity to stack and get up to 20 points/dollar.

  2. Damn. I just bought a pair of Bose QC35’s back in September. So would have loved 5,000 united points for that purchase.

  3. Harry & David proved to be a good option. Oddly enough the free shipping applied to the fruit of the month clubs also. Prior promotions included free shipping but not free shipping for the fruit of the month club. A 20% discount for the fruit of the month clubs is not uncommon but with the 15 points per $1 and the free shipping the end result is better than the 20% discount.
