Oklahoma City Flights Cancelled Due To Shooting

Oklahoma City Flights Cancelled Due To Shooting

1

Sad news out of Oklahoma City, where a full ground stop has been ordered in the aftermath of a shooting.

This is a developing story, and details are thin, but the Oklahoma City Police department has confirmed one victim thus far, a Southwest Airlines employee who was shot in the airport parking lot.

The police department also gave this statement to media in the area:

We located one victim and we’re looking for a second reported victim. We don’t have any information to put out on the suspect vehicle or the suspect itself, but gunshots were heard.

The situation appears to be calmer at the moment, and authorities are preparing to evacuate the airport. Previously passengers and airport staff had been advised to shelter in place while investigations were ongoing. The suspect, however, is apparently still at-large.

Oklahoma City Airport is closed to inbound and outbound traffic at present, and all airlines should be offering fee waivers, according to airport representatives:

OKC is served by Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Southwest, and United. Impacted travelers will need to contact their airline directly, as usual. If you’re scheduled to travel tomorrow morning I’d suggest asking what your options are as well.

Mark this as developing, and I’d suggest following @fly_okc and @okcpd for further updates.

My thoughts are with everyone involved, and their families.
