I’ve written in the past about LoungeBuddy, an app that helps travelers navigate the world of airport lounges. Not only does LoungeBuddy provide great info in terms of what lounges are available to you, where they’re located, and user reviews, but the app also lets you purchase lounge access directly.
LoungeBuddy has teamed up with Visa for a great promotion, offering up to $40 off an airport lounge visit when you pay with your Visa card. This is more than enough for a free visit to many lounges.
Per the terms, you’re limited to one free visit per customer, and the offer is valid through October 31, 2016, or as long as supplies last. The other “catch” is that you have to select the time you want to visit, and you can only book at most 21 days in advance. So you can’t get a flexible voucher valid anytime through this promotion.
To take advantage of this promotion, just follow this link, and you’ll see all the eligible lounges. The listed lounges will indicate the cost of access, reflecting the $40 discount.
Some lounges, like a Plaza Premium Lounge at Heathrow Airport, will still cost a few dollars, since a visit usually costs more than $40.
Meanwhile other lounges will be completely free.
When you click the “Buy Access” button you’ll be prompted to enter your full name and email address, along with the time you’d like to visit.
On the next page you’ll have to enter your Visa card information, though obviously you won’t be charged anything if the cost of the visit is less than $40 (a summary of the cost shows on the previous page).
Those with the Citi Prestige® Card or The Platinum Card® from American Express may not get all that much value out of this promotion, given that the LoungeBuddy network largely overlaps with the Priority Pass network, which comes with both cards. However, this might be useful if you don’t have one of those cards, or are looking to guest people beyond the normal guesting limit.
This promotion does have a few restrictions, like only being able to book 21 days in advance. However, getting free lounge access through a very easy booking portal is tough to beat. If you have upcoming travels I’d certainly look at their available lounges.
Do you plan on taking advantage of LoungeBuddy’s promotion for free lounge access?
