4 Promos To Save You Money On Silvercar Rentals This Summer

I’ve written extensively about Silvercar, including about the rental experience at LAX. Silvercar is an innovative rental car company available in a dozen markets, with only one type of car in their fleet, the Audi A4.

Each A4 is equipped with free GPS, wifi, and satellite radio, and Silvercar has a fair fuel plan, where they’ll fill up your tank for the “market price” plus a $5 refueling fee.

I feel like they charge a reasonable premium for what they offer, though admittedly everyone values things like this differently.

As of now, Silvercar is available in the following markets:

  • Austin – AUS
  • Chicago – ORD
  • Dallas – DAL
  • Denver – DEN
  • Ft. Lauderdale – FLL
  • Las Vegas — LAS
  • Los Angeles – LAX
  • Miami – MIA
  • Newark — EWR
  • New York City — Brooklyn
  • New York City – Manhattan
  • Phoenix – PHX
  • San Francisco – SFO

Silvercar has a great referral program, where they offer $25 in cash after your first rental if you’re referred by an existing member (my referral code is BSCHLAPPIG).

To kick off the summer, Silvercar has been offering 40% off for first time renters who use promotion code FIRST40. While this promotion was supposed to end on June 15, 2016, it has been extended for rentals through June 30, 2016.

This can represent a great deal, especially for longer rentals, where the discount can be substantial.

However, I’d note that if you’re a first time customer and are looking to make a rental of just two days, you’re better off with a different promotion code. You can use promotion code LOUNGEBUDDY to get a free day on a rental of two or more days. That can be stacked with being referred by an existing member (when you sign-up just enter the referral code), which will get you $25 in cash after your first rental.

While the above promotions are useful if you’re a first time customer, there’s a promotion for existing customers as well. If you’re an existing customer Silvercar is offering 15% off rentals through September 30, 2016, using promotion code FTUNI15.

Bottom line

Silvercar isn’t for everyone, as I know plenty of people who say “a rental car is a rental car,” and are perfectly happy with renting from one of the big guys. And that’s fine. But there are also people who are happy to pay a reasonable premium for a rental experience which is actually enjoyable, like with Silvercar.

So here we have a few promotions worth considering:

  • Existing renters can save 15% through September 30, 2016, by using promotion code FTUNI15
  • First time renters can save 40% through June 30, 2016, by using promotion code FIRST40
  • First time renters can get a free day on a rental of two or more days by using promotion code LOUNGEBUDDY
  • If you’re a first time renter, you can combine either of the above promotions with $25 in cash by being referred by an existing member; my promotion code is BSCHLAPPIG

Hopefully some people can take advantage of these promotions to rent from Silvercar this summer.

(Tip of the hat to Deals We Like)

  1. I rented here in Phoenix last year and never got my cash back that I was supposed to. 🙁
Got busy and never had the time to follow up on it.

  2. I used “Summer” last week for 30% off as an existing renter. Think it’s supposed to run through the end of June.

  3. you can’t really go wrong with any of Lucky’s advise. and silvercar is no exception. i was introduced to silvercar last summer by Lucky and i can vouch for all the positives.

one thing i really hate about traditional car rentals is that the agents always pressure you into taking out the insurance. silvercar had none of that. i didn’t have to pull out magnifier and camera to record every ding and nick. they were pretty liberal about them. it was a pleasant surprise for sure.

  4. I like SilverCar. However, I wish they had some of the upper-scale Audis or more fun vehicles. Until then I think I will stick to my Hertz Gold Five Star, where I can pre-select my car and best of all..no interaction with anyone. Just get my car and drive away!

  5. Looking at renting a silvercar for the first time during a holiday in January 2017. Is there likely to be a promotion during for this period?

  6. Is the referral program still in effect? Clicking the link takes me to an error page. Can I input the referral code directly into the sign up form?

  7. @ Matthew Christensen — Sorry for the confusion. They changed it up a bit, but yep, putting the code in should do the trick.
