Now this is a heck of a deal for my readers in Europe. American presently has a business class fare published between Paris and New York for ~$1,200 roundtrip all-in.
The fare is valid for bookings through June 16, 2016, and for travel through October 31, 2016. A Saturday night minimum stay is required. Your best bet for searching availability is either ITA Matrix or Google Flights.
On this fare you can either fly American business class from Paris to New York…
…or you can fly British Airways’ subsidiary, OpenSkies, which operates between Paris Orly and New York. They even recently picked up a 767 from British Airways, which I’d be curious to try.
This is an incredible business class fare, though sadly the fare isn’t valid in the other direction, so you can’t take advantage of this fare if flying from New York to Paris. I suspect this fare is being filed to compete with La Compagnie, the discounted business class airline which operates in the market.
Also keep in mind that American is presently offering 25,000 bonus AAdvantage miles for roundtrip travel between the US and Europe, which I believe you could earn on this fare (I don’t believe it matters whether travel originates in North America or Europe). I value American miles at ~1.5 cents each, so to me those 25,000 bonus miles are worth ~$375.
I’m very tempted to take advantage of this fare in order to review OpenSkies business class, since I haven’t flown then since they first started operating. Too bad I’d have to position to Europe to take advantage of this fare.
Will any Europe based blog readers (or even people based elsewhere) be able to take advantage of this crazy good deal?
