Bonus Points For Joining JetBlue’s TrueBlue Program

It’s rare to see major loyalty programs offer “sign-up bonuses” nowadays just for getting an account. JetBlue has just announced a nice bonus they’re offering at the moment, though it’s not quite that straightforward, as you also have to take a flight to qualify for the offer.

JetBlue is offering 3,500 bonus TrueBlue points to new members who fly by March 14, 2016. The catch is that this offer is only for those who book their flights after registering for the promotion, so previously booked travel wouldn’t qualify.

One-way and roundtrip travel is eligible for the promotion, and bonus points should post 4-6 weeks after the promotion period ends.

JetBlue’s TrueBlue program is revenue based, and each point gets you ~1.4 cents towards the cost of a revenue ticket on JetBlue. This means that 3,500 points get you ~$50 towards the cost of a future JetBlue ticket. This is in addition to the six points you earn per dollar spent on

This offer is unfortunately not quite as good as the promotion they ran last year, where you could get 7,000 bonus points for joining TrueBlue and taking your first flight. But I wouldn’t count on that promotion returning.

The full terms of the promotion are as follows:

*3,500 Bonus Point Terms: Offer valid for new TrueBlue members only. Must enroll as a TrueBlue member and purchase and fly a JetBlue flight (one-way or roundtrip), all between 1/25/2016 and 3/14/2016. Must enroll and register prior to booking. TrueBlue number must be entered at time of booking. New bookings only. 3,500 bonus points can only be earned once. Offer not valid for previously booked flights or changes to a previously-booked flight. Offer does not apply to non-revenue travel (e.g., travel booked with a travel certificate, TrueBlue award flights, etc.); is not valid in connection with partner or codeshare or interline flights, Getaways vacation packages, cruises, or any other product or service; may not be combined with other special offers; is not redeemable for cash; and has no cash value. 3,500 bonus points will not count toward earning TrueBlue Mosaic status. In the event you cancel your reservation, you will not receive any TrueBlue points from that reservation, and any points already awarded will be debited from your TrueBlue account. In the event you change your reservation so that it no longer complies with all the terms of this offer, you will not receive the 3,500 bonus points, and any bonus points already awarded will be debited from your TrueBlue account. New TrueBlue member must not have any existing or previous TrueBlue account. All deadlines based on Eastern Standard Time. Please allow 4-6 weeks after the promotion period ends for points to be posted to your TrueBlue account. Additional restrictions apply. See TrueBlue Terms and Conditions for details.

Bottom line

Given that it’s rare to see sign-up bonuses for joining frequent flyer programs, this is a very nice offer, assuming you’re traveling on JetBlue in the coming months and haven’t yet booked. Keep in mind that JetBlue also allows family pooling of points, which is great if you have multiple people in a family signing up for new accounts.

Do you plan on taking advantage of JetBlue’s promotion for new members?

  1. My wife is flying JetBlue in March for work and we’ve never flown JetBlue before and don’t have plans to fly in the future, is there another account she should credit the miles to? Thanks
