A few days ago I wrote about how the Chase Freedom is offering 10x points at Amazon between November 23 and December 31, 2015, for up to $1,500 in spend. That’s a huge bonus for a retailer many of us use all the time.

If you ever stay at Hyatt properties, here’s a promotion which makes the 10x points promotion even more tempting.

While supplies last, if you buy at least a $50 Hyatt gift card through Amazon you can receive a $10 credit towards a future Amazon purchase. Just use promotion code HYATTHOL10 when placing the order  You’re limited to one credit per person, and the Amazon credit should arrive within five days of the qualifying purchase. The $10 Amazon credit is valid for merchandise sold directly through Amazon, and not third party retailers.

The process couldn’t be more straightforward. Just go to the Amazon page for buying Hyatt gift cards, and then on the final purchase page enter the promotion code, HYATTHOL10.

After you click “Apply,” the page should be updated to reflect that you’re eligible for the promotion. Just make sure you see the message at the top which reads as follows:

Congratulations. Your purchase qualifies for a $10.000 Amazon promo credit. Your promotional credit of $10 (“Promo Credit”) will be sent separately to the email address associated with your Amazon.com account used to make your purchase after your order has shipped.

Within a few minutes you should then receive the Hyatt e-gift card via email.

It’s that easy!

Here are the full terms of the promotion:

Bottom line

I’d spend money with Amazon and Hyatt anyway, so I might as well pick up 10x points and a free $10 Amazon credit when buying a Hyatt gift card. Ultimately I wish there were a way to scale this and get a bigger discount on a larger purchase, but there’s not. In reality I was probably going to end up buying a large quantity of Hyatt gift cards through Amazon anyway to maximize the 10x points promotion, so I might as well pick up a $10 Amazon promo code in the process.

Do you plan on taking advantage of this discounted Hyatt gift card promotion available through Amazon?

(Tip of the hat to Mommy Points)

  1. @Matt, why misleading? Buy a Hyatt GC for $50, pay $40. 20% off. Pay with your Chase Ink, earn 500 points. x10. Yes, it’s not a straight up cash discount and it’s an Amazon credit, but whoever doesn’t have an Amazon account that can take the $10 credit is probably not reading this blog to begin with.

  2. Can the e gift card be used on an existing reservation? Eg can I apply them to my folio balance upon checkout?

  3. Thanks for posting this; I purchased a $60 Hyatt eGC using my Amex offer, so I will get $15 back from Amex and the Amazon $10 promotion.

  4. Hi, Lucky. Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do you use a Hyatt Gift card with prepaid rate? I was recently at the Hyatt Place in Portland and the clerk wouldn’t let me use Hyatt Gift card saying that prepaid rate is already covered by my credit card…

  5. Like JN said above, I used my AX offers, sent myself one, and then went into three other family amazon accounts and also sent myself cards. So net $240 in Hyatt credit for $140.

Is there any way to apply these to international properties?

  6. This promotion died pretty quickly. It was gone by yesterday early evening…. by 8pm December 1. I tried it again this morning to see if there were a glitch, but received the same ‘Invalid Code’ message.
