Earn Up To 3x Etihad Guest Miles For Flights This Winter

As much as I think US frequent flyer programs are generally the most rewarding (simply because there are more opportunities to earn miles with them, given that they’re for-profit businesses, as opposed to cost centers for the airlines intended to generate loyalty), there are plenty of other programs worth looking at as well.

As far as the Middle Eastern carriers go, I think Etihad Guest is a surprisingly compelling program, especially given the number of promotions they offer. Etihad is back with a promotion offering up to triple Etihad Guest miles for travel on Etihad.

The details are as follows:

  • Book your flight between October 12 and October 22, 2015
  • Travel on Etihad flight between October 15, 2015, and March 31, 2016 (flights between December 15, 2015, and January 15, 2016, don’t qualify)
  • Earn 2x miles for travel in economy class, or 3x miles for travel in first/business class
  • Registration is required
  • Bonus miles should post one month after qualifying travel

As a reminder, the bonuses are base miles, and wouldn’t count towards status. Here are the standard earnings rates for travel on Etihad:

When you factor in that you can earn double or triple miles, those are some huge bonuses we’re talking about!

The full terms of the promotion are as follows:

Terms and conditions: this bonus miles offer is open to Etihad Guest members only. Registration is mandatory to receive bonus miles and is valid from 12 October until 22 October 2015. This offer is valid for travel between 15 October until 31 March 2016 only. Any flights taken between 15 December 2015 and 15 January 2016 will not qualify for this bonus miles offer. This offer is valid for all new bookings created between 12 October and 22 October 2015. The bonus miles will be offered on Etihad Airways operated flights, not including redemption flights, codeshare flights or free flights. The bonus miles earned will be Etihad Guest Miles and not tier miles. No bonus tier miles or tier segments will be credited. All bonus miles will be credited after one month from each flight activity date. Each member must register separately to be eligible for the bonus miles offer. This promotion cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion from Etihad Airways, Etihad Guest or Etihad Airways Partner airlines. Members who register for multiple promotions will receive bonus miles only for the first promotion they have registered for. The mileage examples indicated above are for the fare options: Economy Saver, Business Saver and First Freedom respectively.

Bottom line

Etihad offers promotions like this quite frequently, so if you can plan your travel well, you can almost always earn at least double miles for your Etihad travel. That’s huge, especially given that Etihad’s program is significantly more compelling in terms of redemption rates than Emirates’ program.

  1. If I want to take advantage of this opportunity with Etihad but need to fly to Dubai, is it within the realm of reason to fly into Abu Dhabi and take land or air transport to Dubai? No idea about the options or how much of a hassle it might be…any comments helpful. Thanks!

  2. @Rhyme:

It’s super easy to get from Abu Dhabi to Dubai. Roughly 1 hour ten minute drive (no traffic). Etihad offers free busses and if you fly business or First they will chauffeur you there for free. Also, the UAE has extremely affordable taxi’s if need be. Taxi will run you about $50.

  3. Very possible, fly into Abu Dhabi with Etihad and there is a free bus service to Dubai. If you are in J or F and qualify Etihad have a free chauffeur service.
Alternatively taking a taxi is possible and not hugely expensive.

  4. Does it apply to bookings made BEFORE registering in the promotion.
Sure hope it does… I just booked a flight on the 12th 🙂

  5. Keep in mind that at least half your Etihad promo miles will never post, despite dozens of reminders to them. Hence, they need to offer double miles simply so that you break even on earnings. They also advertise partner awards, but you cannot actually book a partner award. In other words, it is a program where you can neither earn nor redeem your miles as advertised.

Anyone who touts Etihad Guest as a program worth using (and I speak as an EY Gold who learned this the hard way) has never actually had to deal with them and is basing their comments off publicity material on their website.

  6. Hello,

I have two Etihad Guest upgrade passes remaining for Gold to Platinum tier. I have a company account with Etihad and I get 10 yearly tier upgrades for my employees. It remains valid for 6 months unless you meet the requirements set (Half of what’s the yearly requirements).

Please email me on naiefmemon@gmail.com with your name and EY Gold Guest no. I can add you to the same.

Will take around 10-15 days to process as i have to send a written letter to local Etihad city office.
