Free 150 Starpoints For Updating Security Questions

Starwood is offering members 150 free Starpoints for updating account security questions by October 31, 2015. Bonus Starpoints should be credited to eligible accounts 2-4 weeks after the completion of the promotion, so likely sometime in November.

You literally just have to update four security questions, one of which can be your verbal password.

The questions are among the more unique “security” questions out there, and include questions like what your favorite spa is, what your most prized passport stamp is, etc.

Once you update your security questions, you should receive an email confirmation confirming the changes.

For what it’s worth, while the above page doesn’t reference the bonus, Starwood Lurker IV on FlyerTalk makes us aware of the promotion:

Starting today you may notice we’ve made some updates to To continually enhance the security of our members’ accounts, we’ve now added security questions within the “My Profile” section. These questions, along with the new ability to register your devices and browsers, will help us securely recognize and identify our members when they contact us.
For a limited time we are offering a one-time bonus of 150 Starpoints for members who complete the 4 new security questions before October 31st.

I value Starpoints at ~2.2 cents each, so to me 150 Starpoints are worth ~$3.30. Not bad for a minute of work. But perhaps more significantly, this is a great way to extend the expiration date of your Starpoints, which otherwise expire after 18 months of inactivity.

Bottom line

This is an easy 150 Starpoints, regardless of whether you just want to earn points for redemptions, or want to extend the expiration of your points.

  1. This is the worst list of security questions ever. Besides a couple of them, the answers are very likely to change.
