Targeted: Bonus Starpoints When You Stay At All 10 SPG Brands

In past years, Starwood has offered “surprises” to SPG members who stay at all of the chain’s brands over the course of a year. With the introduction of the Tribute Portfolio earlier this year, Starwood is now up to 10 hotel brands.

Starwood has a pretty awesome SPG Dashboard, whereby you can log in and see all kinds of stats about your SPG account, including the number of nights you’ve stayed, brands you’ve stayed at, progress towards lifetime status, etc. It’s a great way to reflect on your stays with the chain.

The SPG Dashboard also shows offers for members, including global promotions, targeted promotions, etc. Looking at my SPG Dashboard, it seems like I have an offer for bonus Starpoints after staying at all 10 SPG brands.

My offer is for 10,000 bonus Starpoints if I stay at all 10 Starwood brands between January 1 and December 31, 2015. Even free night stays should count towards completion of this offer, since those stays are considered “qualifying.”

The terms of the promotion are as follows:

An eligible member can earn 10,000 Starpoints for staying at 10 different Starwood-owned hotel brands between January 1 and December 31, 2015. A member can only earn the bonus once. Bonus Starpoints can take up to 2 to 4 weeks to post to your account after confirmation that you have stayed at a total of 10 different Starwood-owned hotel brands between January 1 and December 31, 2015.

While I’ve stayed at a lot of different properties, I’ve only stayed at six of the 10 brands so far this year.

It seems I’m shying away from the limited service properties, as I haven’t stayed at an Aloft, Element, or Four Points, and haven’t had a chance to check out Starwood’s new Tribute Portfolio hotels yet.

I do love Aloft hotels, though haven’t had a chance to stay at one this year

On one hand I’d really like to earn the bonus, as I should easily be able to switch hotels around slightly so I get in a stay at an Aloft, Element, and Four Points. However, the biggest challenge will be staying at a Tribute Portfolio property. As of now there are just two properties — in South Beach and London — so I’m not sure it’s worth going out of my way to visit either of those hotels in order to qualify for this bonus.

It’s certainly tempting, as I can fit the other three brands in quite easily.

Bottom line

It’s nice that Starwood makes a bit of a game out of staying at all their brands. I value Starpoints at ~2.2 cents each, so to me 10,000 Starpoints are worth ~$220. That’s a nice bonus, though I still think the biggest challenge for most will be hitting up one of the Tribute Portfolio hotels, given that there are only two of them.

Different accounts might be targeted for different promotions, so check your SPG Dashboard to see if you’re eligible.

Were you targeted for a similar promotion, and do you plan on taking advantage of it?

  1. I found myself eligible for this offer but I think it’s pretty unfair on SPG side and purely annoying to announce this kind of offer in the final quarter of the year (and prob. busiest holiday time towards the end of year), especially “including the requirement of the staying at one of ONLY TWO Tributes properties in the world” for the moment.

  2. everything else is fine but take a read on the FT thread for the Royal Palm SB. It’s straightly terrible. And a mattress run on there is more than $220. So I think unless one have already visited that one it’s a pass.

Also my spg app showed me Kiroro as the 3rd TP hotel, it’s a ski resort in Japan, if I am not mistaken.

  3. I have a different promo; 500 points for staying at 5 different brands in 2015. Not as big of a promo as the 10K points, as as mentioned with the limited number of Tributes, it’s much easier to achieve.

  4. My offer pales on comparison. I’ll get a 500 Starpoint bonus if I stay at 5 of the brands. I’ve stayed at 4 this year so far. I wonder if once I stay at my 5th it’ll unlock the higher offer? I’ve got a stay at a Sheraton coming up so I guess I’ll find out.

  5. Maybe you can try out the new brand when you head to London for the One Direction concert. That way you can achieve the bonus.

  6. No special offers for me except 500 points for booking with an SPG app (one-time only bonus so not as lucrative as Hyatt’s offer).

P.S. Had a hard time logging into the Dashboard. Turns out, I had to use my SPG number and not a user name to login.

  7. It might not be worth your time to go to London for the bonus, but it looks like The Riviera Palm Springs is joining the Tribute Portfolio in November of this year. Seems like an easy, and possibly worthwhile Thanksgiving/December visit if you’re in LA. I’m in SF (somewhat obviously) and am considering going down for a weekend. A PS friend told me that the Riviera is completely fabulous, so it’s nice to see it joining SPG.
