$75 Off Your Next Hilton Stay With Amex Offers

One of the most overlooked benefits of American Express cards are Amex Offers, which can in many cases help you earn back your annual fee over and over again (and they’re even available on Amex’s no annual fee cards). For example, last November Amex paid $150 of my AT&T bill thanks to an Amex Offers promotion, and this April I had an Amex Offer for $20 of free spend with Amazon. Those are just two examples which saved me $170.

To access some of these offers, simply log into your online account and scroll to the bottom of your card summary page, where you’ll see a section titled “Amex Offers For You.”

There are often dozens of offers available at a time, though not everyone is going to find all of them useful. And for that matter, different accounts seem to show different offers.

As noted by Deals We Like, there’s a pretty good Amex Offer which was rolled out today for stays at Hilton properties.

One of my Amex cards shows the following Amex Offer, for a $75 rebate on a Hilton stay of $350+ in the US:

The offer details are as follows:

Get a 1X $75 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend $350+ on room rate and room charges, when you pay for your stay with Hilton Hotels & Resorts from 7/9/15 to 9/8/15. Book direct with Hilton Hotels & Resorts. Brand exclusions apply.

It is important to note that the promotion only applies for stays at actual Hilton Hotels & Resorts, and not at Hilton family properties, like Conrads, Hampton Inns, Hilton Garden Inns, etc.

In the event that the Hilton Amex Offer doesn’t show up in your Amex account, you’re not out of luck. You can sync your American Express credit card to Twitter, and register for the Hilton promotion that way, using the hashtag #AmexHilton.

You’ll be prompted to sign in with your Twitter account. If you haven’t yet linked your Twitter account and Amex cards, you’ll be prompted to do so. If you have, then it will confirm which card you’re registered with.

Then I simply Tweeted:

@AmexOffers #AmexHilton

And then received an automated response confirming my enrollment:

@OneMileataTime Thx for enrolling in #AmexHilton offer. Spend w/connected Card & receive credit. Terms: http://amex.co/1IOLGgX

Keep in mind that registration is limited, so you’ll want to register sooner rather than later if you think you can take advantage of this promotion.

Also for what it’s worth, the full terms and conditions of the promotion are as follows:

Excludes Waldorf Astoria™ Hotels & Resorts, Conrad® Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton™, Curio – A Collection by Hilton™, DoubleTree by Hilton™, Embassy Suites™, Hilton Garden Inn®, Hampton™, Homewood Suites by Hilton™, Home2 Suites by Hilton™ and Hilton Grand Vacations™. Reservations must be made online at hilton.com, via the HHonors App or by calling 1-800-445-8667. Offer only valid at Hilton Hotels & Resorts in the US & US territories. Offer not valid for stays that are paid for before or after the promotion start and end dates. Excludes gift card purchases. Only U.S.-issued American Express® Cards are eligible for this offer. Please note that hotels, car rental companies, cruise lines do not accept prepaid cards for charges authorized in advance, although prepaid cards may be used to settle the final bill. Check to make sure prepaid cards are accepted before attempting to use your American Express Serve or Bluebird Card to take advantage of this offer. Corporate Cards are not eligible for this offer. Enrollment limited. Limit 1 statement credit per American Express Card across all American Express offer channels. Must add offer to Card and use same Card to redeem. Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 9/8/2015, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you will not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it.

Bottom line

These Amex Offers add a ton of value to American Express cards, and are always worth keeping an eye on. While Hilton isn’t my preferred hotel chain, they have a huge global footprint, so I’m sure I’ll be spending $350+ at one of their properties between now and September.

Will you be enrolling in the Amex Offer for $75 off a Hilton stay of $350 or more?

  1. Lucky, do you know if Amex offers are restricted to the States or if they are also available for German Amex credit card accounts?

  2. It’s worth noting that these offers may appear on multiple of your Amex cards (but sometimes not every card), but can typically only be redeemed on one — so it’s worth clicking around to different Amexes and deciding which of your cards offers the best benefits for the part of the spend you do have to pay for, and adding the offer only to that one.

  3. Hrm, $350 is a lot. Any tricks to combine multiple folios or such into a single $350+ charge?

  4. For those like me who is currently based abroad, the problem of AMEX Hilton hotel offers is “only valid at Hilton Hotels & Resorts in the US & US territories. ” I found this offer in my AMEX Hilton Card but again useless to me.

  5. @ jessie — Missed the US restriction with my first read of it. Post has been updated, thanks.

  6. @ Jason — Hotels can certainly combine multiple folios into one during a given stay, but there’s no way to combine folios from separate, unrelated stays, unfortunately.

  7. Any idea if buying gift card at Hilton property would work? The same “gift cards excluded” language was in a similar Marriott offer but gift card purchased at Marriott hotel worked just fine since they charged it to a folio to complete purchase.

  8. @ Sam — Great question. Hopefully someone can give it a shot and report back with their experience.

  9. Gift card would be huge to eliminate both the single stay AND the brand restrictions. I just started a Hilton Diamond challenge, so I may “take one for the team” next week and report back if no one beats me to it.

  10. Lucky,

Do you know if the hotel stay has to be between 7/9 – 9/8 or can you prepay for a hotel stay later in the year but during the specified time and still get credit?

  11. @ longhorn — That’s a great question. I believe the hotel stay actually has to be during that period. Keep in mind that many hotels won’t actually charge pre-paid stays in advance, but rather only at check-in. But who knows, it could work!

  12. I tried to pad my bill at the Downotown Disney Hilton for one of these offers one time. I tried to buy Benihana gift cards at the on property Benihana and charge them to my room. The Benihana manager shot me down. So buying sushi and room charging is ok but buying gift cards (at Christmas) is not! Anyway there is also a Disney store/ticket seller on property but I did not try there. Another place is the Hilton Hawaiian Village…onsite Benihana Starbucks ABC store etc etc.

Anyone else care to try room charging gift cards from onsite vendors? I am not really the best at sweet talking the employees to make this work but I think it could be lucrative. I believe we would get Hilton points too. It could even be done while on a reward stay. I have considered forcing the issue with the hotel manager as a Hilton diamond
