Silvercar Expanding To Fort Lauderdale As Of May 15, 2015

I’ve written extensively about Silvercar, including about the rental experience at LAX. Silvercar is a fairly new rental car company with only one type of car in their fleet, the Audi A4.

My biggest complaint about Silvercar is that they don’t have enough locations yet, though there’s some good news on that front.

Silvercar will be available at Fort Lauderdale Airport as of May 15, 2015. Beyond that, Silvercar will be expanding to Chicago in the summer of 2015, and plans to launch four to six new markets before the end of 2015.

This complements their existing locations in Austin, Dallas (both DFW and DAL airports), Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, Phoenix, and San Francisco.

To celebrate the expansion, Silvercar is offering a discount for making new bookings for rentals in Fort Lauderdale on specific dates:

  • Make a Silvercar Fort Lauderdale booking on April 27 (today) using promotion code FLLE27 and get 27% off
  • Make a Silvercar Fort Lauderdale booking on May 15 (the day they launch there) using promotion code FLLE15 and get 15% off

Introductory rates in Fort Lauderdale seem to be as low as $59 per day plus taxes/fees, so with the 27% off promotion code you can get rentals for as little as $44 per day plus tax. Keep in mind that price is only valid for bookings today, so it could make sense to make speculative bookings now so that you can lock in the price.

Keep in mind that Silvercar also has a $50 off code for a rental of at least two days, using promotion code FTU50 (this can’t be combined with the above promo codes). This is valid through the end of the year for both new and existing members, though can only be used once. That could lower the cost per day for a two day rental to as low as $34 plus taxes/fees.

On top of any of the above promotions, Silvercar has a great referral program, which they recently improved. If you’re referred to Silvercar and make your first rental, both the person referring and person being referred will receive $25 in cash.

If you haven’t yet rented from Silvercar, simply go to the sign-up page on, and enter the “Referral Code” at the bottom of the page. If you’d like to use my code (which I’d of course be incredibly grateful for) it’s BSCHLAPPIG, though feel free to post yours below as well, and someone else can use it.

I look forward to seeing Silvercar expand to more markets!

  1. My biggest problem with Silvercar is their lack of options. I understand they have a deal with Audi and I appreciate them offering great cars. However, Audi does not have only A4 and when renting with family in Fort Lauderdale for example I cannot manage to have me, wife and 2 kids with car seats and plenty of luggage all fitting in an A4. They should expand and give you options to rent Q5, Q7, etc…

  2. Just signed up with Lucky’s referral code. It was super easy. I’d appreciate if someone used my code: SMOONEY1 Thanks!

  3. @ Santastico — Totally get that perspective, though at the same time I think Silvercar isn’t trying to be all things to all people. I think it’s the simplicity which makes them so unique, and I think they’d probably even tell you that there are some circumstances under which you *shouldn’t* rent from them. I think it’s the consistency which makes them so awesome.

But you’re definitely right, there’s some potential there…

  4. Is silver car right on site at the airport or is it off site near the airport, if it is off site do they provide a way to get to the location of silver car from the airport?

  5. Just rented from Silvercar @ LAX for a long weekend in Santa Barbara and loved it! The car was awesome and SO much better than Avis! Easy pick up from arrivals, super friendly employees and overall great service!
