Daily Getaways is a promotion which has been offered the past few years as a way of encouraging US tourism. The promotion has consisted of all kinds of travel packages, from a set number of nights at a certain hotel, to outright being able to purchase hotel points at a discount.
It was a great promotion when it was first offered several years back, though over the years the deals have gotten worse and the competition for the few travel packages has increased exponentially. Nowadays it’s almost like a lottery to pick up one of the packages, and that’s not even accounting for the deals getting worse.
Anyway, it looks like Daily Getaways will be shaking things up a bit, as it’s returning earlier than last year.
Daily Getaways, sponsored by the US Travel Association, has posted the following on their website:
Top Travel Products + Incredible Values – Don’t Miss This Opportunity!
Once again Daily Getaways will return with more than 20 of America’s top travel brands offering incredible travel deals unavailable anywhere else.
We are bringing offers to you sooner this year, in plenty of time to make plans for the summer season. Whether you plan to take a long weekend, just a day or a full vacation, now you can spend your time away from the office with a little more left in your pocket.
Mark your calendar for live sales to begin on Monday, March 23, 2015. You can expect to see savings up to 50% on points from your favorite hotel brands, travel packages with all the amenities, discounts on car rentals and attraction tickets plus more!
This year, all card types are eligible to receive the same great savings. Quantities are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
A sneak preview of select offers will be available beginning March 16, 2015.
So they’re changing things drastically compared to past years, including the following:
- Daily Getaways will take place much earlier than in the past, with a sneak preview of offers being posted on March 16, 2015, and the live sales beginning March 23, 2015 (in the past the promotion has been offered in May and June)
- It seems that you’ll no longer receive a 10% discount when paying with an American Express card, as has been the case in past years — I’m guessing they’re not a sponsor anymore (Daily Getaways is trying to market it differently above, but that’s how I interpret it)
Anyway, I’m certainly not expecting many amazing deals, especially when you factor in that they eliminated the 10% discount for paying with an American Express. And I’m sure the competition will be tough as ever.
But I’ll certainly post an update when the deals are published. Here’s to hoping for the best!
