100 Free American Miles In Less Than A Minute

PointsHound, the website that lets you earn miles for your hotel bookings, is offering new members 100 free AAdvantage miles.

I know 100 miles isn’t a lot, but:

  • Every mile counts
  • Earning a small number of miles is a great way to prevent miles from expiring
  • This literally takes less than a minute

To sign-up, you simply have to enter your email address and create a password.

Once you’ve done that and you’re logged into your account, click on the “My Account” page and select “Add New Loyalty Program.” Just enter your name and AAdvantage number.

Back on the main account page you’ll see your bonus history, which should reflect the 100 AAdvantage miles.

I’m not sure what the timeline is for AAdvantage miles posting, but presumably they’ll post eventually

  1. Thanks. You convinced me. But the service sucks — they basically sell you more expensive rooms (due to “service charges” mixed in with taxes, keep their commission, and buy you a pittance in miles with it.

And, of course, you lose all the benefits that you get when you don’t go through third party sellers (e.g. free Wi-Fi, in certain cases the ability to earn points, etc.)

  2. Well, that took way more than a minute. The “my account” link is not clearly visible. You have to click on “Level 1” (level 1?, what the heck?}, and then the “my account” link is on the drop down menu.

Once I figured that out, I quickly finished, and it does say “points pending”. Was the time it took, not only to register, but to search around for the my account link, worth a mere 100 miles, that will hopefully post sometime in the perhaps distant future? Questionable…
