There have been several updates to the Chase Ultimate Rewards program over the few months, one of which is to the user interface for the Ultimate Rewards website.

The new site is supposed to be cleaner and more accessible for mobile and tablets, and those with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card will see the new skin when they log in to that account.

I know exactly nothing about web design, so won’t speak to whether or not this is pretty, but these updates do at least seem useful.

Your points balances and recent activity are displayed prominently, and I really like the breakdown of how many points have been earned in which categories.

You can also click on the “See more activity” button to get a breakdown of spending:

really appreciate being able to see whether or not each transaction accrued bonus points. The old site had a summary option which was helpful, but it wasn’t quite as prominent.

The Ultimate Rewards Mall has been renamed, and the “Shop through Chase” program is given a bit more real estate. The main page has a bigger “teaser” with a selection of the participating retailers:

And recent earnings activity is displayed on the homepage as well:

For comparison, the Ink and Freedom cards still have the old interface:

Anyways, nothing tremendously exciting, but I received a few messages asking me about it, so thought I’d share. Hopefully it expands to the other Ultimate Rewards cards soon, as having multiple interfaces doesn’t seem ideal.

  1. They must still be working on the update. I have had the same error message all morning, while trying to get into my UR account on my Sapphire Pref. No luck with the Freedom either.

  2. I know this isn’t the point of your post, but why did you use your Chase card for spend at a Le Meridien hotel instead of the Starwood amex?

  3. Just to mention that the new Shop through chase will show the total points you earn not the additional amount of points

for example Expedia shows 2PTS/$ it”s really only 1 additional point, and if u were to use a non chase card than you wouldnt earn the 1

  4. (*command posted before finalizing)
And if u were to use a non chase card than you wouldn’t earn the 1 point per $ for the purchase

  5. I no longer see 2X points for Marriott, the main thing I use the site for. Not a fan of the “upgrade”>

  6. Were you able to find the link to “combine” UR points with another account? I rely on this as I have the Sapphire (non-preferred) and Ink Bold. I move my UR points to the Ink account so I can transfer to partners. Did I miss it?

  7. Honestly, i like the update. Pretty nice to see the points breakdown by YTD earned for each category, expected points at next statement close, and most of all the points/bonus for each transaction.

  8. @David G – If you hover over the point balance in the top right, a menu drops down. Combine points is at the bottom of that menu.
