Starwood Crossover Rewards Double SkyMiles For Sheraton Stays

A little over a year ago Delta and Starwood introduced Crossover Rewards, whereby members of both programs receive benefits when making bookings with the other program.

The following benefits apply for Starwood elite members when flying Delta:

SPG Platinum and Gold members earn 1 Starpoint for every dollar spent on eligible Delta flights. Plus, SPG Platinum members enjoy elite benefits when traveling with Delta, such as Priority Check-in, Priority Boarding, Unlimited Complimentary Upgrades, and first checked bag free.

Meanwhile the following benefits apply for Delta Medallion members when staying at Starwood properties:

SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion® members earn 1 mile for every dollar spent on eligible room rates at over 1,100 Starwood hotels and resorts globally. Plus, SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members receive additional SPG benefits at Starwood hotels and resorts — 4 p.m. late checkout, access to the SPG elite check-in line, complimentary in-room Internet access and an upgrade to an enhanced room at check-in, when available.

Starwood has announced a promotion for the month of April, whereby eligible members staying at Sheraton properties in the US and Canada will receive double miles for stays through April 30, 2014. Registration isn’t required and it doesn’t matter when the booking was made.

Ultimately this isn’t enough of a promotion to switch around any stays, but it is something to be aware of. So basically instead of earning one Delta mile per dollar spent at Sheratons in the US/Canada you’re earning two.

The full terms are as follows:

*Crossover Rewards registered members who are also Delta Medallion members will automatically earn double Delta miles on eligible stays at participating properties during the promotion period. Promotional period runs from April 1 through April 30, 2014. Participating properties are any Sheraton hotel or resort in the United States or Canada. Four Points® by Sheraton hotels and resorts are not eligible for this offer. Members who earn double miles will earn an additional mile per eligible US$1 spent on room revenue (for a total of two miles per eligible dollar) per the Crossover Rewards mileage earning terms. Elite-level extra Starpoint earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled. Miles will post to the registered member’s Delta SkyMiles account within 4–8 weeks after the qualifying stay posts.

  1. Yea baby! Now I can earn 168 miles instead of 84 for all my weekend stays. Virgin Australia here I come!

  2. I’m registered for Crossover Rewards but I find it disappointing that you have to be a Delta Medallion to earn miles.

  3. I guess there is an advantage to procrastinating. I got an email from SPG today offering 2,500 SPG points just for registering for Crossover Rewards! There is a slight name discrepancy between my two accounts so I can’t register online, and I’ve just never gotten around to calling in because I don’t fly Delta…so my procrastination is working to my benefit now. You can believe I’ll call in now!

  4. I got my second DL upgrade yesterday (ORD-LGA) due to Crossover Rewards….so, there is also a drawback for procrastinating. 😉

Had I not registered, I wouldn’t have been upgraded…though 2,500 SPG points is nice.
