Win 30,000 Starpoints courtesy of the Starwood American Express!

I’ve been invited to participate in the Starwood American Express “Stars” program for the past two years, which has given me the incredible opportunity to experience some events courtesy of the card. Most recently I got to attend a Starwood American Express cardmember event at the US Open, and stay at the newly rebranded Westin New York Grand Central.

Anyway, the Starwood American Express has given me 30,000 Starpoints to give away to one lucky blog reader. The window to enter will only last for six hours, till 5PM ET today, Monday, September 9, 2013.

How to enter:

1. Follow me on Twitter @OneMileataTime

2. Tweet me letting me know your favorite Starwood American Express card perk is using the hashtag #spgamexOneMile.

As a reminder, some of the perks of the card include:

  • Double points for Starwood stays
  • Starwood Gold status upon spending $30,000 on the card in a calendar year
  • Five nights/two stays towards Starwood status annually
  • American Express return protection and extended warranty
  • Access to exclusive cardmember events

An example of an eligible Tweet would be:

@OneMileataTime I like earning double Starpoints on Starwood stays #spgamexOneMile

The fine print:

It’s that simple! To be eligible you have to enter between 11AM ET and 5PM ET today (in other words, in the next six hours). You can find all the fine print of the promotion here. Some of the fine print includes:

  • You have to be at least 18 and a resident of the US to qualify
  • Only one entry is allowed per person/Twitter account
  • Winner is responsible for paying taxes on the value of the prize
  • A winner will be announced within 24 hours

Good luck and please let me know in the comments section if you have any questions!

  1. Done and done! I personally find 5 nights/2 stays credit most useful (can even double-down and get 10/4 if have personal & business accounts).

Gold upon reaching $30,000 is nice but can get a Platinum Amex and get SPG Gold status automatically. But, nights/stays credit is still useful because auto-Gold status doesn’t reduce Platinum requirements.

  2. @ Todd — Right, sorry, I meant to say that’s the “retail value.” No way to say what the tax obligation of that would be without knowing income bracket, etc.

  3. Better have some freaking amazing redemptions in mind or you’ll easily end up the LOSER in this ‘giveaway’

  4. @ Carlos — How do you figure? Even if you’re in a tax bracket where you’re paying 35%, that’s less than 0.9 cents per Starpoint. Not sure what you’re redeeming your Starpoints for that you’re not getting an absolute minimum of double that value.

  5. *Run and type away*

My favorite are $30,000 on the card in a calendar year, and the transfer point not just hotel but airline too.

  6. SPG points are awesome and versatile can transfer them to tons of airline programs or redeem them for some of the best hotels (Vieques W)

  7. @ Mr. Cool — Winner won’t be select till 5PM ET, so I’d suggest deleting one of them.

    Thanks for entering!

  8. Ironically, this contest didn’t work out for folks who were in the middle of traveling. Six hours is an awfully small window =/

  9. I think I sent the tweet but I don’t use or tweet often and can’t even tell if I did it right.
Can someone tell me how to see the tweets that were sent?
