Earlier this year Delta and Starwood launched Crossover Rewards, an innovative partnership which offers benefits to members of both programs. In addition to earning Starpoints for every Delta flight and SkyMiles for every Starwood stay, members also received reciprocal elite benefits.
Presently Diamond and Platinum Medallion members receive 4PM late checkout, access to the Starwood elite check-in line, complimentary in-room internet access, and upgrades at check-in. Meanwhile Starwood Platinum members receive priority check-in, priority boarding, and first checked bag free.
However, as of today yet another benefit has been added to the program. Specifically, Starwood Platinum members now receive unlimited domestic upgrades on Delta.
Here are the FAQs regarding the upgrade benefit:
As an SPG Platinum elite member enrolled in Crossover Rewards, how do I become listed on the upgrade list?
At the time of booking, your upgrade request will be automatically added to your itinerary and will be included on the airport standby list upon check-in for your flight. Standby upgrades will clear based on availability at the gate.
As an SPG Platinum elite member enrolled in Crossover Rewards, where will I be listed on the upgrade list?
For eligible flights, you will be given priority behind Medallions, Medallion Companion, and KLM, Air France, and Alaska elite upgrades.
If I am an SPG Platinum elite member who is also a Delta Medallion and enrolled in Crossover Rewards, where will I be listed on the upgrade list?
You will continue to clear on the upgrade list based on your Medallion Tier.
On the whole I suspect these upgrades will only very rarely clear, but it’s a nice perk nonetheless for Starwood Platinum members.
Now we’re just counting down the days till American and (sadly) Hilton tie the knot…
