Join me at TravelMagic in Brussels on September 21, 2013!

While there are lots of frequent flyer “educational” events in the US, like the upcoming Frequent Traveler University in Tampa, I’m also pretty excited to be part of an upcoming event abroad.

On Saturday, September 21, 2013, TravelMagic will take place in Brussels. It’s being hosted by my friend Bart Lapers, and will be a lot less US-centric than the ones that take place in the US. I’m just hoping Bart lets me speak in English, or else we have a problem, since it doesn’t seem like it was in English last year. šŸ˜‰

Here’s a pretty nifty video of last year’s TravelMagic:

Anyway, tickets are now on sale for ā‚¬99, and include all the presentations, lunch, wifi, coffee, tea, and snacks. For what it’s worth I’m paying for my own transportation there, so I’m not getting any of that fee (which I believe is just covering the costs, as hosting these kinds of events isn’t cheap). It’ll be my first time visiting Brussels, so I hope to share some Belgium specialties with you guys — ideally waffles/chocolate, and not beer.

If you’d like to stay at the host hotel, The Hotel (no, this isn’t a game of “Who’s On First,” I promise), there’s a special negotiated rate for September 20-22. Rates are ā‚¬100 for a Superior room orĀ ā‚¬125 for a Deluxe Panorama room. Breakfast, wifi, and minibar are included in both rates, and the Deluxe Panorama room includes access to the Panorama Lounge, which I’m told serves food and drinks (including champagne) all day — that seems like it could be dangerous! Anyway, the booking link for the hotel can be found here.

  1. I like Belgium. Try to make a day trip to Brugges. Only about 1 hr train ride. Definitely try the fries, waffles, chocolates and beer. Also if you are into mussels thatis another thing to have.

  2. What an excellent deal on the hotel for our Euro friends. I am sure the conference will be great.

  3. If you want to take a side trip there are great Eurostar prices. If you book in advance you can get the Eurostar to London or Paris for around $66 a way on the Eurostar site. It takes 2 hours and you arrive in the middle of either city. This also gives you the option of using London or Paris for your flights.

  4. Looks like a nice hotel…maybe I should think outside of the box a little more when it comes to hotels!

  5. Stayed at The Hotel last month to attend a conference at the hotel. Hotel and rooms very stylish and modern – wifi great – conference rooms airy and open. The breakfast in the Panorama Lounge was exceptionally good. Used to be a Hilton last year. Also only about 3/4 of a mile to the Brussels Nord train station (TGV trains to Paris) so convenient if you can’t fly directly to Brussels.

  6. What an incredibly stupid idea to host this at a hotel where you cannot earn or spend points…..

  7. @Gerard: might be more stupid to host it at a hotel where you can earn or spend points and there talk about how you can screw with their system šŸ˜‰

  8. You should try lambic. It’s more like an alcoholic fruit soda than beer, and comes in delicious flavors like raspberry, strawberry and peach. Goes well with chocolate. šŸ˜‰

  9. Have a great time! I wish I can go too but have to go to a wedding in TX. That’s a week before Tampa FTU so hope to hear stories of your Belgian adventures then.

  10. Hi Ben, great to see you will be speaking at the event! If you’ll fly Brussels Airlines again on your way over here, let us know!

  11. Just booked my ticket! Pretty excited for this one.. And to fly Brussels Airlines Business Class from IAD.

  12. Stay until the following weekend and make a run to Holland for the Borefts Beer Festival in Bodegraven. One of the best in the world.

While in BRU go to Cantillon Brewery. Unique. And try the gueuze whenever you can.
