Back in October American announced four new international routes, including between Dallas and Seoul Incheon, Chicago and Dusseldorf, New York and Dublin, and Dallas and Lima. A few weeks ago they unveiled a promotion offering up to 30,000 bonus miles for travel on their new route to Seoul Incheon, and now they’re back with promotions for the new Dublin and Dusseldorf routes.
The New York to Dublin service launches June 12, 2013, and they’re offering 20,000 bonus miles for roundtrip travel on the new route in business class or higher economy fares (Y, B, and H), and 10,000 bonus miles for travel in all other fare classes. The promotion is valid for travel between June 12 and September 15, 2013. You can also earn half the miles for one-way travel on the new flight (in case you don’t do a roundtrip), and the bonus miles will post immediately after the segment is flown. Registration is required.
Meanwhile they’re offering an almost identical promotion for the new Chicago to Dusseldorf service, except it’s valid for travel between April 11 and July 15, 2013. Registration is also required for that.
10,000 bonus miles for a roundtrip coach ticket is certainly a nice incentive, and enough to make me consider a trip to either city if fares are reasonable. I doubt we’ll see any good fares to Dublin during the promotion period given that the service only launches in June (beginning of peak season for Europe travel), though I wouldn’t be surprised to see some good fares to Dusseldorf in April and May.
