A couple of days I wrote about how Chase changed the details of the sign-up offer on the Sapphire Preferred card. While the sign-up bonus of 40,000 points remained the same, the spending requirement in order to earn that bonus was lowered from $3,000 to $2,000.

Well, I’ve been asked to pull the links yet again by 3PM ET. I have no clue why. Maybe the decreased spend requirement

  1. I think it’s the other way around. Chase can’t me making much money on anyone who doesn’t carry a balance, particularly with 40-50K offers that otherwise require 40-50K of spend for them to just break even.

  2. Considering the Chase website still shows the $3k spend requirement, I’m guessing they’ll just revert to that.

  3. lucky,
i signed up for the card via your link about 3 weeks ago…the card came; i’ve since activated it and begun to use it…when in your experience should i begin to see my gold stats reflected on my hhonors profile?!? any idea?

  4. @ Morris — It should be reflected almost immediately. Are you sure you entered the right HHonors number when you applied?

  5. @ Morris — You would want to call Citi first and make sure they have the right HHonors number on file. They can open a claim if there is indeed a problem.
