Starwood announces Triple Up promotion: up to triple points for stays through December 18

Starwood has just announced the details of their latest promotion, Triple Up, which will run from September 6 through December 18. Through this promotion Starwood will offer members that register double points for all stays, and triple points for any stays that include a Thursday or Sunday night (many hotels are not participating in the promotion). Registration opens on September 6, and later today more details on the promotion can be found here.

It’s something, though not nearly as exciting as the promotion they ran earlier this year, which offered one free resort night after every three stays.

This announcement also comes just 24 hours after Hyatt announced the details of their promotion, which offers 5,000 bonus points after every three nights.

Suffice it to say that my local hotels won’t be seeing a whole lot of me for the rest of the year!

  1. Most of my stays are in Germany…. This is just awfull…

Also have stays coming up at Sheraton Prague, Grosvenor House, Dubai, Aloft Chapel Hill
    and some more…. all excluded…

  2. That list of excluded hotels is pretty long. Unfortunately, the hotel for our upcoming trip is on that list. No triple points for us. Given how many non-participating properties there are, I wonder how many people will be able to take advantage of this.

  3. Both properties I regularly stay at are non-participants this time and The Sunday/Thursday rule limits the points I would get on my work trips anyway (I do 1 night stays to maximize the #stays for status.)

I wonder why there are so many non-participants double or triple points is not very expensive for most of these low end – mid range properties.

  4. C’mon SPG. You can do better than this. In fact, this is far and away one of the worst promo limitations I have seen you do in a while.

I sincerely hope SPG has something else (similar to their 3 stays/1 resort night or similar) come out in tandem with this promo.
