1. your travelsort articles never disappoint… thanks for another great and extremely informative read.

  2. Is that Thai’s First Class cabin? I didn’t know they introduced a new First Class Cabin (other than for their A380s).

  3. The pictured TG F is ONLY available on their leased 77W’s. Those a/c operate on CDG-BKK and BKK-NRT services only. They have a couple more coming online shortly that will serve another European destination to be determined. The 747’s that operate to LHR, FRA, MUC and the 346s to ZRH have an older F class product which is still pretty nice, but it is not a suite.

  4. Hi there! I was checking out your column last week RE: booking a RT flight to Asia (the long way) via Europe. I tried booking a fly from SFO-Rome (stop)-HKG via a telephone agent this morning and was told that the only options for a stopover from SFO-HKG were via Vancouver, Tokyo, or Seattle. Could you point me in the direction of how to go about booking a RT ticket to Asia via Europe? Thanks!

  5. Thanks for this article! I acquired enough BA miles through the latest AMEX MR promotion for 2 coach tickets to Bali. How’s the economy product on Cathay from SF to Bali? I’ve been having difficulty in finding reward availability on coach and was wondering if you knew how far in advance I should be looking? On the same line, how many months in advance do they release award availability?

  6. Lucky – I always enjoy reading what you write, and have done so for over a year now. Fun stuff! I’d love it, though, if you’d include a line or 2 in your posts about coach award prices and availability. Maybe that would dilute the “product” and “pitch” here, but I won’t be spending miles on biz or first until the kids are older…7 yrs or so. I only really look for coach awards, thinking I could endure anything for a week on Bali!

  7. @ Adrian — That is indeed their leased 777-300ER cabin.

@ Ray — What airlines were you trying to book through? If it’s a OneWorld or SkyTeam airline, chances are you wouldn’t be allowed to go through Europe.

  8. I’m sorry I didnt clarify — I called Continental’s phone agents and the agent said that my only options from San Francisco were stopovers in Tokyo, Vancouver, or Seattle/LA

  9. Hi Mike G, Check out Ben’s post on 5 of his favorite hotels in the world which includes the Intercontinental Bali. Inland, in Ubud, one of our writers loves the Ubud Village Resort Dined but did not stay at the Four Seasons Sayan, which was gorgeous, though very secluded–perfect for really getting away from it all.

I loved the Ritz-Carlton Jimbaran Bay, which is now the Ayana Resort and Spa and apparently still excellent. Hope this helps!
