Through June 30, Starwood is selling Starpoints for 20% off. While they usually cost 3.5 cents per point, they cost 2.8 cents per point through this promotion. In order to qualify, accounts must be at least 30 days old, and a maximum of 20,000 Starpoints can be purchased per member per calendar year.
Starpoints are one of the most valuable points currencies out there, so this isn’t a half bad deal. It’s made even more tempting by US Airways’ current transfer promotion from Starwood, offering a 25%-75% mileage bonus depending on whether or not you’re a US Airways elite member or have the US Airways credit card. With that promotion, you’re looking at paying somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.3-1.8 cents per US Airways mile.
Regardless of whether or not you plan on transferring points to US Airways, this is an offer that’s worth considering.
