Very impressed by Virgin Atlantic so far…

Hello from the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at San Francisco Airport, which is by far the nicest business class lounge I’ve ever been at. I’d say it almost competes with some of the best first class lounges out there.

All the details are coming with my trip report, but just a few teaser pictures:

By the way, all of these pictures were taken with my new Canon S95, which has impressed me VERY much so far.

  1. Used to have the S95, but the new Olympus XZ-1 that I got two weeks ago blows it out of the water!

  2. Virgin-operated clubhouses are without question the most fun lounges out there. Not the most luxurious (think Concorde Room or SQ private room)…but definitely the most fun. If you’ve not been to the VS CH at LHR, I think you’ll find that one to be tops.

  3. Looks like a splendid start to your trip!

I thought I was also going to fly VS UC ex-SFO or LAX (where they share the ANZ Koru Club) but plans changed and now I’ll be leaving from JFK.

It’ll be interested to read your report to see how the JFK CH differs from SFO.

One upside to fling JFK-LHR is that I’ll get to check out the LHR arrival (Revivals) lounge. I was bummed to learn that it closes before the SFO flights arrive.

    Enjoy and safe travels!

  4. The Clubhouse is a great value if you have some time before/after flying VX in the afternoon. The day pass is $35 (vs. $39 or $50 for RCC), open to VX Elevate members and First or Main Cabin Select pax. It can be worth it for the nice meal, drinks, and generally superior amenities compared to most other lounges in the US.
