Most poorly crafted “out of office” reply from a hotel?

Reader/friend hobo13 just forwarded me an email I found pretty interesting. He is staying at (what I would consider to be) a luxury hotel in the US, and decided to email the hotel in advance using the email address available on the hotel’s website. He received an automated out of office reply, which is by no means unusual, though check out the way it was crafted:

Good Day!!!

Now, I’m not going to throw the hotel under the bus here, other than to bring the reply to the attention of a higher up at the hotel chain. I wouldn’t expect an “out of office” reply this poorly crafted from a Vegas motel you rent by the hour, let alone a luxury hotel!

  1. Unbelievably unprofessional. We communicate extensively with clients in my office and if a subordinate sent this out I would not be pleased.

  2. Haha… looks like it was written by a 14-year-old! I’m surprised it doesn’t end with “TTYL!!!”

  3. They forgot the “LOL” at the end of the email. Pathetic. Could you share what hotel chain this is from, at least? Or is it not a chain?

  4. Lucky, I know you’re very particular about the details, but is this really blog worthy? I mean its just a temporary auto response message, and it did get the message across.

  5. @ Sam — This is a blog and not CNN, so of course (in my opinion)! After all, I’ll either be discussing this or the temperature of my nuts on United, take your pick. 😀

If something is related to the airline/hotel/travel industry and informative or entertaining, I’ll post it. I do consider this to be entertaining, hence the post.
