Traveling next month SFO to Frankfurt on United Polaris and Frankfurt to Istanbul on Turkish Airlines business. Booked with Miles through United. Two questions:
1) unable to get seat selection on Turkish airlines. Any idea how to get that done?
2) any tips on navigating connections at Frankfurt airport?
1) Call up Turkish Air (use their 800 number if you are in the US) and give them your Turkish Air Record Locator Number (not the United Record Locator). Turkish can reserve your seats then. If you do not have the Turkish Record Locator, call up Turkish give them your name and flight info and ask what their Record Locator Number is. I think it is always wise to get the Record Locator of the actual airline you are flying on no matter how/who you booked it through. Can save a lot of hassles and it lets you use that airlines app.
2) Never been to Frankfurt airport so I can not help you there.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. When I called Turkish Air with the record locator they told me that I would not be able to get seat assignment until I checked in for my initial flight with United at SFO. Wanted to see if there was any way to get around this. I thought signing up for their “Miles and Smiles” program would help, because I would then be a “member,” but the signup screens were unusable, i.e. couldn’t sign up.
According to the Turkish site you should be able to. This is their seat selection link
