GIVEAWAY: Two Free Nights At Any Curio By Hilton Hotel

curio-giveaway-004

It goes without saying that I love loyalty programs, though I also love staying at unique hotels. For a long time the two seemed to largely be mutually exclusive, where a vast majority of chain hotels also felt cookie cutter. One cool trend we’re seeing among the major hotel groups is that they’re introducing more brands focused on unique, local hotels. One of those brands is Curio by Hilton.

Here’s how Hilton describes their Curio Collection of hotels:

“Free of a prescriptive build design, the hotels selected to join the Curio collection themselves define the brand. From the beaches of Southern California, to the Southern charm of Dallas, to the Art Deco-era luxury of Germany, these hotels are one-of-a-kind with individuality as a common thread.”

Up For Grabs: Award Wallet Plus Upgrade Codes (Round 1)

Clouds

As I’ve mentioned before, AwardWallet is one of those websites I don’t put much thought into but it makes my life so much easier.

Back in the day I’d have to refresh all my mileage balances manually, and if you’re as OCD as I am and have as many frequent flyer accounts as I do, that can take hours each week. 😉

I assume most of you already know about AwardWallet, but for those of you that don’t, it allows you to store most of your miles and points balances in one place (if you are totally unfamiliar with AwardWallet or loyalty programs in general, make sure to check out the Beginner’s Guide to Miles & Points).

There are some programs that AwardWallet can’t load, like Delta, Southwest, and United, but aside from that they’re pretty thorough. Even aside from actually loading mileage balances, I find it a handy place to store all my account numbers.

Heads Up: Award Wallet Giveaway

Clouds

Just a quick heads up that I have 200 Award Wallet Plus upgrade codes to give out. These give you six months of extra services such as tracking expiration dates, which is incredibly helpful.

People always complain that these go too quickly and without notice, so I’ll be posting these in two batches today at 5PM and 9PM Eastern.

That should hopefully give more people an opportunity to snatch up one of these codes. They’ll be first-come-first-serve, as usual.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Request Missing IHG Priceless Surprises Plays NOW!

Hello World contact us form

I’ve written quite a bit about the IHG Priceless Surprises promotion that ran from mid-November to mid-February. I even visited the headquarters of the fulfillment company, Hello World, while I was in Michigan for Christmas. This is the promotion where you were supposed to receive a play of the instant win game — or “elevator game” — after staying at an IHG property, but you could also request a free game piece by scribbling a bunch of information on an index card and mailing it in.

You could request up to 94 game pieces per account, which admittedly was quite a bit of writing. But for whatever the reason, many folks never received all of their game pieces. I managed the submission process for six of us here at Team OMAAT, and between us we only received 87.8% of our expected game pieces.

I presented our results last week showing that we averaged over 50,000 points per person, even without the missing pieces. Well, several readers advised me to email Hello World to request the missing game plays.

So I did.

Saying Hello To Hello World World Headquarters

pants on fire

A couple weeks ago I reported that points from the IHG Priceless Surprises promotion were posting. I realize now that that might have been a bit of an overstatement.

My statement was more or less based on my own two data points — I had mailed in two entries and received two game tokens a month later. Many readers left comments, however, indicating that they had received far fewer game pieces than they were expecting, with some saying they had not heard anything yet. Ouch. As a result, I’m starting to fear that Politifact would have given this a Pants on Fire rating for accuracy.

For those of you who aren’t completely caught up in the world of IHG right now, Priceless Surprises is their current sweepstakes-like promotion where you are supposed to receive an instant win game piece after staying at an IHG property. You can then use this game piece to play an online game and earn points or prizes.

That’s probably how it was supposed to work.

Help Us Get To The One Direction Concert In Style… Or Not!

London-approach

As I first wrote about in late July, Starwood was kind enough to invite me and 10 of my closest friends (in other words, you guys!) to a One Direction concert at the O2 arena in London on September 28, 2015. They gave us the SPG Suite, similar to the one I just visited at the US Open in New York.

We held a contest on the blog to pick five winners to join us, each of whom could bring a guest. The five winners had some awesomely creative entries.

This is a fantastic experience which SPG members can usually redeem Starpoints for. As a huge One Direction fan/tween girl at heart, I’ll do my best to behave. Especially since One Direction is breaking up next year, so this might just be my first and last One Direction concert. ZOMG!

And The Winners Of Delta’s Dirty Caption Contest Are…

It's OK to want an empty marketing gimmick...

On Friday we asked blog readers to help caption a delta.com targeted landing page that was very gay-friendly, in the way that the adult reading materials section at Circus of Books on Santa Monica Boulevard is “very gay-friendly.”

As a reminder, the image you guys captioned is below.

I have to say, you guys were really handy at this.

So much so, in fact, that rather than choosing one winner, we’ve chosen two winners, each of whom will receive a $100 Delta gift card to spend on airfare, merchandise, in-flight purchases, or Krug-and-tugs from your handsome ethnically diverse seatmate.

Winners Of The SPG & One Direction Contest

British-Telephone-Booth

Over the past few weeks I’ve been running a contest to join me in the SPG Luxury Suite at an upcoming One Direction concert.

I simply asked you guys to tell me what you loved about SPG and/or One Direction, so thanks to the hundreds of you that participated.

The votes are in, and the winners are as follows:

Caption Contest: Delta Wants You To “Have It All” In Comfort+

It's OK to want an empty marketing gimmick...

You’ve already seen on this blog that Delta is an extraordinarily gay-friendly airline. Delta’s clearly got a marketing team focused on reaching out to the LGBT community, and it shows in the airline’s inclusive, equality-minded advertising and branding.

However, my friend posted a screenshot of Delta’s very gay-friendly (targeted) landing page he saw this afternoon. Someone in the marketing department is thirsty.

Find all the perks you need, indeed, Delta.

Final Day: Vote On The Winners Of The SPG/One Direction Contest

British-Telephone-Booth

Last Friday was the last day to submit entries to join me in the SPG Luxury Suite at an upcoming One Direction concert. I simply asked you guys to tell me what you loved about SPG and/or One Direction, so thanks to the hundreds of you that participated. It was really tough to narrow it down to this group of finalists!

Now it’s up to you guys to decide who wins. Through tonight, August 7th at 11:59PM Pacific you can vote below on who you think should win. The five finalists with the most votes wins, (barring any voting irregularities), and each will get to bring a guest to the concert.

The polls can be found underneath each individual entry, and all you have to do is vote on which entries you think are best. You can actually vote for as many entries as you’d like, since each is set up as an individual poll, though obviously voting for every entry is the same as not voting at all.

Here are the finalists, in no particular order:
