Last week it was announced that Club Carlson would be rebranded as Radisson Rewards. This is part of the hotel group’s overall plan of better leveraging the name of their flagship brand, as their branding has been confusing up until now.
For the most part the loyalty program stays the same. There are minor changes to elite benefits and qualification requirements, though the number of points required for a free night redemption remains unchanged. The program has now announced the first ever global promotion.
Radisson Rewards members can earn up to 120,000 bonus points for stays between March 12 and June 30, 2018.
The promotion is valid for stays at all of Radisson’s 1,100+ hotels around the world, and offers the following tiered bonuses:
- Book & stay 2 nights: Earn 5,000 bonus points
- Book & stay 5 nights: Earn 15,000 bonus points
- Book & stay 10 nights: Earn 50,000 bonus points
- Book & stay 20+ nights: Earn 120,000 bonus points
On top of that, you can earn an additional 500 bonus points for every booking you make using the Radisson Rewards mobile app.
Registration is required prior to your first eligible checkout in order to be eligible for the promotion. Stays at Radisson Collection, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson RED, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson, and Country Inn & Suites by Radisson are all eligible. One other major restriction is that only stays booked between March 12 and April 15, 2018, qualify, so previously booked stays don’t qualify. That’s a major restriction we haven’t typically seen from Club Carlson in the past.
For reference, here’s Radisson Rewards’ award chart, when it comes time to redeem points:
Eligible stays for the purposes of this promotion include revenue stays at eligible rates only — free night redemptions and Points + Cash bookings are not eligible for the promotion. Personally I value Club Carlson points at ~0.3 cents each, or so, for some context on how much this promotion is worth.
On the high end you’re earning 6,000 bonus points per night with this promotion, which I value at ~$18 per night. That’s a significant return, given that many of Radisson Rewards’ properties are quite inexpensive. This is on top of the normal points earning of 20 points per dollar spent for non-elite members, and it only goes up from there if you have status with them.
I’d consider this to be a solid promotion, though the biggest barrier is that you actually have to spend 20+ nights with Radisson to max out this promotion. If you like limited service properties that’s a great option, though otherwise that’s quite limiting, especially in North America.
Do you plan on taking advantage of Radisson Rewards’ first global promotion?
