The British Airways Shopping Portal Is Offering Double Avios This Weekend

Shopping portals can be a great way to maximize the miles & points you can earn, as they let you earn bonus points for purchases you’d make anyway. I always like to share any lucrative shopping portal bonuses that I think people could benefit from.

If you have any big online purchases coming up, you may be able to benefit from this offer from British Airways. The British Airways Avios eStore will be offering double Avios with all retailers for purchases made between Friday, February 23, and Sunday, February 25, 2018.

British Airways offered a similar promotion last year, and in many cases this made for some lucrative points earning opportunities. There’s both a US and UK version of the shopping mall, so people on both sides of the pond can take advantage of this opportunity.

While the exact earnings rates haven’t yet been published, you should be able to get a sense of what the rates will be based on doubling what you’re seeing right now. It’s possible that British Airways will adjust some of the points earning rates prior to the promotion going live, and there could also be some excluded retailers, so we’ll have to wait for the full details of that. There are quite a few attractive opportunities to earn Avios, and those will only get better once this promotion goes live.

So if you have any online shopping you need to do and then British Airways eStore looks like it may have lucrative earning rates, it could make sense to hold off a few days.

  1. Thanks for the heads up Lucky. I broke my iPhone last week but have been waiting for a promotion like this before buying a new one. I definitely will take advantage of this if Apple purchases are getting 6x the points.

  2. It’s a good offer. British Airways shopping portal is a major source of my avios “income”. (Just got back last night from a club europe flight I got for next-to-nothing and now going online to book a flight to Scandinavia for the Spring, hopefully for almost-free.)

It’s worth logging onto your BAEC account every couple of weeks or so to see which retailers have points offers and also checking for newly signed-up retailers. Now, when I have friends round and we’re ordering a home delivery meal, I always use the BA shopping portal to order the meal online. I’m eating my way around the world – literally!

Only word of caution is to check the small print with each retailer as they sometimes have their own exclusions (e.g. one of my favourite department stores will not give points on some large ticket orders such as white goods.)
