Several days ago I wrote about how IHG Rewards Club had a targeted promotion for members staying at Kimpton hotels. With Kimpton now being part of IHG Rewards Club, they’re trying to get more members to try Kimpton hotels. 10,000 points sure is a nice incentive to try a hotel, especially since that bonus is in addition to the points you’d usually earn, the Accelerate promotion, and any other promotions you may be targeted for.

Initially this promotion seemed to be targeted — there was no need to register, so the only way to know if you were eligible for the promotion was if they emailed you. I know many were frustrated that they weren’t targeted, so there’s some good news.

IHG Rewards Club is now offering all members 10,000 bonus points for making one Kimpton stay by April 30, 2018. Unlike before, this promotion now shows up on the IHG Accelerate homepage (though it doesn’t show up on the Dashboard, as it’s not technically being adding as one of the “Offers”):

As an extra bonus, receive an additional 10,000 points with your next Kimpton® Hotels stay by April 30th. With Kimpton® Hotels in the family, you now have another exciting one-of-a-kind way to explore new experiences and earn points. Terms and conditions.

You should be eligible for this as long as you register for the Accelerate promotion, and the 10,000 bonus points should post within 6-8 weeks of the stay.

I value IHG Rewards Club points at ~0.5 cents each, so to me that’s like $50 worth of points for a Kimpton stay, even if it’s just one night. Best of all, you can earn a lot more points than that, between the Accelerate promotion, the points you usually earn, and using your IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card to pay for the stay.

There are plenty of reasonably priced Kimpton properties, so even if you’re not someone who is otherwise loyal to IHG, it could very well make sense to take advantage of this promotion.

Comments

  1. FYI, Kimptons have hefty resort fees added to their daily rate. For example, a Kimpton in Washington DC that had a rate of $128 a day had a resort fee rate of $27.

  2. How do you register for the accelerate offers? If my offer page shows the button “Book Now,” does that mean I’ve already been automatically registered? I have several stays booked, including at a Kimpton, and don’t want to miss out on the offers.

  3. A Stay constitutes a “Qualifying Stay” when member pays qualifying rates, which include most business and leisure rates. Bonus points are not issued for Non-Qualifying Room Rates or Non-Qualifying Stays. “Non-Qualifying Room Rates” or “Non-Qualifying Stay” include the following: net wholesale individual and group rate, certain package rates, employee discount rate, friends and family rate, crew rate, special discounted contract rates, seasonal worker/crew rate, 50% travel club discount rate, travel industry discount rate, distressed passenger rate, IHG® Rewards Club Reward Nights/Airline Hotel Reward rate, rates booked through third party web sites, complimentary hotel Stays and any other rates not defined as a Qualifying Room Rate at IHG’s sole discretion.

  4. I login in Accelerate page but did not see the promotion. Only see before login.
Is it still valid for me?
