There are good first class fares and then there are amazing first class fares. This falls in the latter category, in my opinion. Yesterday I wrote about the great Emirates first class fares available for travel originating in Canada. For example, you can fly roundtrip from Toronto to Chennai for 3,800USD in first class, or roundtrip from Toronto to Johannesburg for 4,300USD in first class. Those are great prices for one of the world’s best first class products.

Well, if you enjoy backtracking there’s an even more incredible fare available at the moment. You can fly Emirates first class roundtrip from Toronto to Dubai to Milan for ~2,900USD.

This fare is only available on emirates.com when using the multi-city search tool. It won’t show on Google Flights or other online travel agencies. You’ll have to book using the multi-city tool.

That’s an amazing fare for 40 hours in Emirates first class, all of which can be booked on the A380 if you’d like (the other option is the 777, but Emirates doesn’t fly their 777 with the new first class to Milan). But the crazy part is the number of points you’d earn if crediting to Alaska Mileage Plan and paying with The Platinum Card® from American Express (which offers 5x points on airfare purchased directly from airlines or through Amex Travel, on up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year). This journey covers a distance of ~20,000 miles roundtrip, so you’d earn:

  • 14,500 Membership Rewards points, which I value at ~250USD
  • 70,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles if you don’t have status, 80,000 Alaska miles if you’re an MVP member, 90,000 Alaska miles if you’re an MVP Gold, or 95,000 Alaska miles if you’re an MVP Gold 75K

Assuming you value Alaska miles at two cents each and have no status, and assuming you’re paying with The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’d be earning ~1,650USD worth of points, meaning the real cost of the ticket is ~1,250USD. For that you’re getting 40 hours in Emirates first class.

This has to be one of the best first class non-mistake fares I’ve ever seen. I don’t have the need to travel from Toronto to Milan, though I’m tempted as heck to book one of these tickets, given how much I love Emirates first class.

Anyone else tempted by one of these amazing Emirates first class fares?

(Tip of the hat to zoqfotpik)

Any suggestions like this on Business or First from UK to Hong Kong or Bangkok.

  5. Stefan Guest

I'm tempted to book this just for the experience of flying Emirates First Class!!!

  6. Jay Guest

@MARC It was not a mistake fare. Emirates calls it as "First Saver". Compared to First Flex, there is a $600 CAD for changes and refunds.

  7. Jay Guest

It was not a mistake fare. According to Emirates, it is called "First (Saver)". There is a $600 CAD fee for changes or cancellations.

FARE WAS A MISTAKE AND IS GONE

Just checked in April.....$56,000...maybe it was a mistake....

YYZ-DXB-MXP is now up to the price of what JNB was earlier and JNB is now 2x the price it was earlier

"omg" is very childish and inarticulate. I'm sure you're not a trashy, bitchy American teenage snowflake, ben.

    @bob
Consider going to Lake Maggiore instead.
    You won’t regret. It’s a lot better.

Price just jumped by 50%...right as I entered my credit card information. Tried changing dates, no dice.

Lucky, How did you calculate the distance of your itinerary? When I looked it up with a tool, it shows 19,600 miles each way, and 39,200 round trip.

    1. lucky OMAAT

      @ gene -- I used gcmap.com.

If not crediting miles to Alaska which other program should we consider?

    1. lucky OMAAT

@ Carlos -- My second choice would probably be Japan Airlines. You can find all your options here:

Booked 3 tickets for a family trip right now! So excited!!!! Thanks Ben, you're the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now need to find a place to stay at. Lake Como perhaps? Will the EK chauffeur drop us that far?

    1. lucky OMAAT

@ bob -- Awesome! You're good within 100km of MXP, so that should cover Lake Como.

  17. Theresa New Member

Have you found this for any other cities or just the route you mentioned? I've been trying some other combinations and can't get close to that at all..

    1. lucky OMAAT

@ Theresa -- It's only valid for travel to MXP. There are also good fares to other destinations, though not 2,900-3,100USD, but rather 3,800USD+.

  18. CDKing Guest

200% extra bonus is RDM only so only 150% EQM

  19. bill Guest

Wouldn't you earn nearly 70,000 AS EQM with this offer, too?

    1. lucky OMAAT

@ bill -- Unless I'm missing something, you only earn 150% EQMs for Emirates first class.

  20. Zymm Member

Since this is a 'normal' non-mistake fare, do you think this'll stick around for a few days?

  21. Martin Guest

That's one heck of a long way around to get to Italy though

  22. YMW Guest

Yes I am very tempted! can we team up??

  23. FlyerDad New Member

Lucky: Wouldn't you get 140,000 (rather than 90,000) as an MVP Gold since you would get a 50,000 bonus for achieving status?

  24. GL New Member

Refundable with CAD 600 penalty. Not bad at all. I am SO TEMPTED!

  25. AG Member

Do know if this fare is refundable?

  26. yyc Member

@Debit, you can send him a quick private message on Flyertalk. I'm pretty sure he can connect with you on card referrals, although he's based in Canada.

  27. Brandon Guest

Or in other words, buy this and earn enough points for a CX first class award ticket to Asia

  28. Mike Guest

Any discount codes for YYZ departures?

  29. Lukas Diamond

Any chance this could be booked through AMEX MR site? :D

    1. lucky OMAAT

@ Lukas -- Unfortunately I doubt it, since this isn't even pulling up on other online travel agencies.

  30. Max Guest

At first when I saw the title I thought this was just another mistake fare, but it's probably not, 2900$ is just a really cheap fare!

    1. lucky OMAAT

@ Max -- Hah, yep, or something like that. Just insanely cheap.

  31. Debit Guest

    Who is zoqfotpik??

Dude has been finding so many deals. Does he have credit card referal link?

  32. Flyingdoctorwu Guest

Can it be booked with a stopover?

    1. lucky OMAAT

@ Flyingdoctorwu -- I've been able to price it out with a stopover, yes.
