Save BIG On Hilton Stays With Two Stackable Amex Offers

In the interest of full disclosure, One Mile At A Time earns a referral bonus for anyone that’s approved through some of the below links. These are the best publicly available offers that we have found for each card. Please check out our advertiser policy for further details about the partners we work with. Thanks for your support!

For those of you not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program available through most Amex cards, where different cards are eligible for different savings and bonus offers. In many cases the offers can be huge, and more than offset the annual fee on a card.

To view Amex Offers, go to the bottom of the account summary page of any American Express card, where you’ll see all the offers you’re eligible for. These offers come in different forms, including discounts and even in some cases bonus points.

At the moment there’s an especially generous stackable Amex Offers promotion for Hilton stays.

A new targeted Amex Offer has been loaded that can save you money at Hilton. Through this Amex Offer, you can get a $50 statement credit when you spend $250+ at a Hilton property in the US or US territories by October 30, 2017.

But what makes this promotion so great is that it seems to be stackable with another Amex Offers promotion that has been around for a while. Many accounts also have an offer for 3,500 bonus Amex Membership Rewards points after spending $300+ at a Hilton property in the US or US territories by September 30, 2017.

Registration for both promotions is limited, so you’ll want to register sooner rather than later.

Different accounts have different Amex Offers, but between my accounts and Ford’s accounts, five cards have both of these offers. We have the offer on The Platinum Card® from American ExpressThe Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN, and the Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express, among others.

To crunch the numbers, if you do have both offers, for a $300 Hilton purchase you’d receive $50 back and 3,500 Amex points (which I value at ~1.7 cents each, or ~$60). That means you’d be getting $110 of value on $300 of Hilton spend.

Keep in mind that this is in addition to the normal points earning you’ll get through Hilton and your credit card. Hilton is offering double points through the end of 2017, meaning you’d end up earning 25 Hilton points per dollar spent (or 27.5 as a Gold member, or 30 as a Diamond member), not factoring in credit card spend.

The way I see it, this is like getting more than 50% off a Hilton stay. Also keep in mind that if you’re able to add the offer to multiple cards and you have a $600+ hotel stay, you can use multiple credit cards at check-out.

Were you targeted for this Hilton offer, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?

  1. I was targeted, but while I was glancing through my AmEx offers I noticed a new one for 10,000 MR points in exchange for a $500 spend on Virgin Atlantic (expires 10/31/2017).

  2. Looked good until I saw the fine print. So where am I supposed to stay to use this?

Excludes Waldorf Astoria™ Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts™, Canopy by Hilton™, Curio – A Collection by Hilton™, DoubleTree by Hilton™, Tapestry Collection by Hilton™, Embassy Suites by Hilton™, Hampton by Hilton™, Hilton Garden Inn®, Tru by Hilton™, Homewood Suites by Hilton™, Home2 Suites by Hilton™ and Hilton Grand Vacations™

  3. I was going to use this offer to book couple of nights @ a Hilton property nearby (as our apt is being fumigated – ugh), but it’s so restrictive (as @Joeheg mentioned) and doesn’t allow “advance purchase” rates… so I’ll probably stick to AIRBNB this time.

  4. Thanks for the tip, Lucky. I got it on only one of six cards – my personal Platinum.

One point to note, I spoke with Amex last month about the 3500MR offer. I was curious to know whether the spend could be on a single or multiple stays. Their reply was that it could be an aggregate of all stays during the valid period.

I had a Hilton stay last week for $200 that I considered putting on my Surpass. I’m happy I put it on my Platinum; one more night will yield 3500mr and $50.

Lucky, how lucrative does a Hilton offer need to be to make you put the spend on a card that isn’t Surpass?

  5. I have a 3rd offer for hilton on my account: 15% off and 5000 bonus hilton points. I don’t see any exclusions about stacking in the terms. Do you know if this could be stacked with the other two?

  6. I have both of these offers, can I use it to buy Hilton gift card ($301) and use them later ? Or is it mandatory to have a stay before 10/31 ?

  7. On the Amex EveryDay Preferred Card, got the following offers:

    – Spend $300+, get 3,500 Membership Rewards® Points
    – Save 15% and earn 5,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points
    – Spend $250 or more, get $50 back Hilton Hotels & Resorts
    – Spend $500 or more, get $100 back Hilton properties in the UK

I doubt the first three will qualify for stays in the UK though

  8. Received it on my plat and my wife plat card. This is great as we have a vacation coming up in October and will be able to use it on both of our cards. Thank you Hilton for the $100.

  9. Anyone else have authorized user cards where Amex offers have now mostly disappeared? My wife and I have a few Amex cards each. She is an AU on my Everyday Preferred. Normally she’d get a huge list of 50 or so offers on each card, but I just noticed today that she only has 1 offer on the Everyday Preferred AU card.

Wonder if this is more widespread and they are cracking down on AU offers more generally.
