Airline Shopping Portal Bonuses: Up To 2,000 Bonus Miles

Airline Shopping Portal Bonuses: Up To 2,000 Bonus Miles

2

Online shopping portals can be a great way to pick up additional miles & points for purchases you’d make anyway. For following a specific link you can earn bonus points in addition to the ones you’d earn for credit card spending.

The number of bonus points you earn per dollar spent varies greatly by retailer, though in addition to those variable bonuses, there are often promotions that are available on all purchases. A couple of new shopping portal bonuses have just been introduced, which are worth keeping in mind for any online shopping you may be planning.

Earn 2,000 bonus miles with two portal bonuses

A couple of airline shopping portals are currently offering promotions for online purchases. If you’re going to make online purchases anyway, you might as well take advantage of these offers. Let’s go over what you need to know.

American AAdvantage eShopping bonus

Through Monday, January 15, 2024, American AAdvantage eShopping is offering up to 1,000 bonus miles for shopping:

  • Earn 500 bonus miles when you spend $200
  • Earn 1,000 bonus miles when you spend $400
Earn up to 1,000 AAdvantage miles

United MileagePlus Shopping bonus

Through Sunday, January 17, 2024, United MileagePlus Shopping is offering up to 1,000 bonus miles for shopping:

  • Earn 500 bonus miles when you spend $150
  • Earn 1,000 bonus miles when you spend $300
Earn up to 1,000 MileagePlus miles

Bottom line

Between these two shopping portal promotions you can earn up to 2,000 bonus points for spending $700. You can take advantage of both of these promotions, and each is based on your cumulative spending through a particular portal during the offer period. The bonus points should post within 10 weeks of when the promotions end.

If you make purchases in the right increments, you could be earning nearly three bonus miles per dollar spent, not even factoring in the miles usually being offered through the shopping portals, plus the points you usually earn through credit card spending (make sure you’re using the best credit cards for everyday spending). That can add up.

Beyond airline shopping portal bonuses, also keep in mind that Rakuten is pretty awesome, as it offers a great bonus for new members, and you can earn Amex Membership Rewards points with the portal. Personally that’s what I use for most of my online purchases.

Do you plan on taking advantage of these shopping portal bonuses?

AA eShopping and SimplyMiles bonuses have been extraordinarily WEAK the last several quarters. Makes me think/feel that a big devaluation is coming soon. Either that, or they are trying to slim the ranks of elites, which in that case: I'm totally fine with that.

On another note, AA Hotels is literally the worst program out there. I used to use it for about 20% of my travel, now I NEVER use. Prices AND earnings AND customer support are literally the WORST.

Agreed on AA hotels. Ever since they capped it at 15k per stay, I haven't even looked at them.
