Best Western is a chain we don’t talk about that much around here. But like Wyndham, they can often be the only points option in out-of-the-way parts of the world. They can be especially prevalent around the American national parks — I think the last Best Western I stayed at was in Moab, Utah, close to Arches and Canyonlands.

And with summer road trips upon us it seems worth mentioning Best Western’s summer promotion which has actually been running for a few weeks now.

Best Western’s summer promotion

Best Western Rewards is offering members a $10 Travel Card every night they stay between May 22, 2017 and September 4, 2017. You can find the promotion here.

But it gets better.

If you are a member of the American Automobile Association or the Canadian Automobile Association, you’ll actually get a $20 gift card per night. AAA members should register here, while CAA members should register here. It’s not exactly clear to me how they would know if you are a AAA/CAA member or not…

Anyway, registration is required and you must provide a valid email address. Previously booked stays do not count towards the promotion.

Travel cards will be sent to your email address 1-2 weeks after the stay and must be used within 120 days from the end of the promotion, meaning they’ll expire around the end of 2017. It’s worth noting that members residing outside the US can only participate in the promotion by staying at hotels in the US, whereas US members can earn the credits anywhere.

Best Western has a lot of properties throughout the world that are under $100. In fact, rooms can be as cheap as $50 per night. That means that with this promotion, you might be looking at a 20% or more discount, which is pretty decent.

Finally, travel cards can be combined.

Bottom Line

Best Western has a summer promotion where you can get either a $10 or $20 gift card for each night of your stay, depending on whether or not you are a member of AAA/CAA.

Given that Best Western properties aren’t all that expensive, that’s a pretty good deal that could result in as much as a 30% rebate or more, depending on the cost of the property. The big concern is that the gift cards are only good through roughly the end of 2017.

Do you have a road trip coming up this summer where a Best Western might be a good option?

Comments

  1. It stinks that previously booked stays don’t count. It is punishing those of us who plan ahead. I have a 4 night stay booked for the family at a Best Western Plus this summer, but don’t qualify for this promo because we booked in May.
