Great Deal: Earn Triple Avios Through The British Airways Shopping Portal

Using online shopping portals can be one of the easiest and best ways to maximize the points you earn. It always makes sense to compare various shopping portals, because sometimes the payouts can differ significantly (sites like evreward.com let you easily track these).

Well, British Airways has just announced an awesome promotionĀ for their shopping portal. You can earn triple Avios when you shop with select retailers through the British Airways shopping portal between May 25 and May 31, 2017.

You’ll want to check out the site to see all the eligible retailers, though just to give a few examples of the available deals:

  • eBags — 24 Avios per $1
  • Sunglass Hut — 24 Avios per $1
  • Overstock.com — 21 Avios per $1
  • Neiman Marcus — 18 Avios per $1
  • West Elm — 18 Avios per $1
  • Walmart — 12 Avios per $1
  • Seats — 12 Avios per $1
  • Home Depot — 9 Avios per $1
  • Apple — 6 Avios per $1

Personally I value Avios at ~1.3 cents each, so these are some pretty significant “returns” with some of these retailers. Getting a 31%+ return at Sunglass Hut or eBags, or a 23%+ return at Neiman Marcus, is pretty solid.

As I always like to point out, if you buy any brand name cologne, skincare, etc., keep in mind that most retailers have similar pricing, so you might as well pick stuff like that up when there’s a bonus through a portal, as we’re seeing now.

Unfortunately this time around there are no bonuses of 150 Avios per dollar spent… not that those were honored the last time around, unfortunately. šŸ˜‰

Do you see any offers here that you plan on taking advantage of?

Comments

  1. @Lucky – with poor american airlines award availability these days, Shouldnt the value of avios also drop? It no longer makes sense to collect avios in hopes of short haul redemptions in american

  2. What airlines do you see as the best usage of Avios these days since the AA saver availability is terrible – especially for domestic (i.e. shorthaul) routes?

  3. You have to click through from BA.com for this offer to be valid and I am getting “page not found”. Wonder how quickly that will be fixed…

  4. @ Will Garside — Yep, if you follow the link you should be able to change the country to the UK, and there are quite a few offers there as well.

  5. Ashford (watches) is a solid company in NYC. The watches are brand new with 2year warranty, box and serial. Warranty is honored by an independent lab. And prices are lower than at regular retailers, and no taxes but NYC

If you buy say a nice Rado or Baume Mercier, you can get many miles.

  6. @ trex — Out of curiosity, which retailer did you go through? Doesn’t seem like Bose as such is part of promo? I ask because I’m also considering picking up a pair of Bose headphones.

  7. @ AG — That’s good to know, didn’t realize that! It does look like the terms suggest that electronics aren’t eligible for shopping portal bonuses, though. Maybe that’s not enforced, but is something to be aware of for anyone else considering this.

  8. Is there a limit on how many miles I can get for buying clothes on Neiman’s website? Also can I double dip on points by using BA Chase cc? Thx

  9. @ lucky – I went through ebags for the headphones. My friend picked up a pair when United was running 15 miles/$ a few months ago and the points did post. Hopefully it works.

  10. With the BA.com disaster today, I’m unable to login an make any purchases through their portal. Anyone have a workaround?

  11. @lucky, circling back on this….just realized now that I did get triple miles on my bose headphones purchase . miles posted in july. Around 12,500 avios!!
