Save $60 On A $300+ Hilton Stay With Amex Offers

Update: This offer for the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express is expired. Learn more about the current offer here.

For those of you not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program available through most Amex cards, where different cards are eligible for different savings and bonus offers. In many cases the offers can be huge, and more than offset the annual fee on a card.

To view Amex Offers, go to the bottom of the account summary page of any American Express card, where you’ll see all the offers you’re eligible for. These offers come in different forms, including discounts and even in some cases bonus points.

At the moment there’s a targeted Amex Offer for $60 back when you spend $300+ at Hilton Hotels & Resorts or Curio Collection properties. The offer is valid for stays at participating properties through July 30, 2017. The promotion is only valid for stays at U.S. properties, and isn’t valid at any Hilton family brands other than Hilton or Curio.

Given the relationship between American Express and Hilton, we’ve seen quite a few Amex Offers from them over the years. For example, earlier this year we saw an Amex Offer for 3,500 bonus Membership Rewards points after spending $250 with Hilton or Curio, and last year we saw an Amex Offer for $60 back when you spend $300 at Hilton properties.

Do keep in mind that this promotion is targeted, though it at least seems to be pretty widely targeted. For example, in my case I see the offer on The Platinum Card® from American ExpressThe Amex EveryDay® Credit Card from American ExpressThe Blue for Business® Credit Card from American Express, etc. In the case of Ford’s account I even see that he has been targeted on the Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express, which is the best of both worlds, since he can earn 12x Honors points per dollar spent, plus get $60 off a $300 Hilton purchase.

Keep in mind that if you book a stay costing significantly more than $300, you can always ask them to charge multiple credit cards at check-out, so you put $300 on an Amex card, and then the residual on another card that offers the most bonus points for your stay (or ideally you just have the Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express and it’s targeted, so you get the best of both worlds).

Was your account targeted for this Hilton Amex offer, and do you plan on taking advantage of it?

  1. Received offer via my regular HH Amex (and other Hilton family offers, too). Will definitely take advantage.

  2. I have a similar one for Homewood Suites or Hampton. I just saw it but I think it started awhile back. I think good through 6/30.

  3. Assuming this will also stack with the current Amex Platinum 7,500 point bonus for a stay of 2+ nights?

  4. Not sure if they do it in the USA but in the UK, amex are pretty good at adding these offers to your card if you call or email them and ask them to. Had both a £100 off for spending £500 with British Airways and £50 off for spending £200 with amex travel.

Would definitely recommend trying if you haven’t been targeted for this

  5. Lucky – I received the promotion and I’m not reading anywhere in the T&C that this needs to be charged on one stay. I take that to mean that I could potentially have two stays on separate days and hit the $300 threshold and still qualify. Do you have any experience with that?

  6. If I buy a gift card directly from a Hilton hotel, will it work? I did this successfully with the Marriott promotion earlier this year.

  7. @Arthur Back at the end of March I stayed at a Curio property. I booked two rooms but they ended up posting as two separate reservations and two separate charges. Amex still gave me the 3,500 bonus, because in total it was over the $250 required spend, the reservations were also pre-paid, even though the terms said not valid on advanced bookings. They are pretty lenient.

  8. Grrrr…went to grab the offer on my plat biz card and was told I wasn’t eligible. Logged into my HHonors acct and saw Silver status. Called AMEX to fix, they said it looked right on their end and to call HHonors…I refused and told them to call and fix it; they connected me to HHonors who promptly said AMEX had to fix. Called AMEX back and they fixed it. Went to grab the offer today and it’s gone. Typical, I guess…

  9. My wife & I both got it on our Hilton Surpass cards.

It will be a nice $120 off our upcoming New Orleans stay! It’s a business trip so we are only paying for one night. $120 takes off 50% of that night.

  10. I think they meant to put JUNE 30, 2017 because (1) July 30 doesn’t make much sense and (2) here we are now in July and the offer has disappeared (before I could use it). Boo!

  11. Mine is still there. You have to add it to your card as soon as you see it to avoid having it disappear. My guess is they are capacity controlled and will be removed as soon as that limit is met.

  12. Has anyone got the $60 credit by pre-paying for a hotel stay at a Hilton.com? I’m looking at a Hilton property other than a “hilton”. Hilton garden inn or a doubletree (which I know it says excludes). But sometimes the credits trigger anyway. Please let me know, trying to pre-pay for a 4 day trip to New Orleans in august. Thanks
