Well, spring hotel promotion season is now in full swing, as we’ve learned about the promotions being offered by Club Carlson, Hilton Honors, and World of Hyatt. IHG Rewards Club has just opened registration for their latest promotion. Like their past several promotions, this one also has customized offers, so different members will be targeted for different offers.

IHG’s newest promotion is valid for stays between April 16 and May 15, 2017, and is valid for IHG Rewards Club members with accounts registered in the Americas. Furthermore, those with the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card are eligible to earn 5,000 additional bonus points through this offer. You can visit this link to see your offer and register.

IHG-Promotion

My version of the offer is for 8,000 bonus points (3,000 points, plus 5,000 points for using the IHG Card) after staying two nights during the promotion period. Here’s how it’s described:

In the case of my offer, the two nights don’t have to be consecutive, and the bonus points should post within 4-6 weeks.

IHG-Offer

Personally I value IHG Rewards Club points at ~0.5 cents each, so 8,000 points are worth ~$40 to me. That’s not a bad bonus for staying two nights, though also doesn’t do much to encourage incremental stays beyond those two nights.

This offer seems really simple. In the past, IHG’s targeted promotions (called “Accelerate” offers) had all kinds of tasks you could complete in order to earn tiered bonuses. It was valuable whether you stayed just a few nights or a couple dozen nights.

However, for my version of the promotion, there’s no incremental bonus after the first couple of nights. I guess that’s fair enough, since I haven’t made a revenue IHG stay in over a year, so I guess they’d be happy to see me staying two nights.

I suspect IHG loyalists will have different offers, where they have to stay more nights, but can also earn more bonus points.

Bottom line

IHG’s spring promotion is now open for registration, though is only valid for stays stating in a couple of weeks. Be sure to log into your IHG account to see what version of the offer you’re eligible for. If IHG is a convenient option on an upcoming stay then I’ll gladly take 8,000 bonus points for a two night stay. But I’m also not going to go out of my way to take advantage of this offer.

What kind of an offer did you get for the IHG Spring Bonus?

  1. There’s also a 4n offer which I got. It’s much worse since it’s still awarding at the rate of 1.5k/n and have the same 5k bonus for card member. So 11k after 4n.

  2. It is 2017 but IHG still uses a 4 digit PIN which with today’s technology a baby can hack into your account. How can they be so stupid?

  3. I registered for it, but can’t see any specific offers when I go to “My Offer Status” under my account :/

  4. Oddly minimal promotion and not worth me going out of my way for. I’ve checked in and left for a couple of the Accelerate promotions.

  5. My offer was 12000 for 7 stays in that month plus 5000 if using my card. Not thinking this will work for me. I love the Accelerate Programs over a longer time frame.

  6. Hope they didn’t stop the accelerate promotions. I’ve been able to get 31,000 points with 1 night stay and one dinner for winter (total spent 180 euros). This doesn’t seem to be as good.

  7. Link registers me but fails to indicate what the details and targets are. But thanks for posting.

  8. I was to register but not to see the offer, so I called to find out and the rep read what sounded like 5 different levels ending with 12000 for 7 nights or 10 nights or something. I asked her if these were separate offers and she said no it was my offer and also my husband’s offer. So perhaps there aren’t different offers? She said there was just one spring promotion. That doesn’t seem right though.

  9. Same as others, registered fine but no idea what the actual offer is because it fails to show up in my offer status.

Last month accelerate was not showing up in my status for weeks.

IHG need to work on their site.

  10. I registered when I got an email directly from IHG. My deal is 11,000 points for 4 nights when I pay with my IHG branded credit card (6000 for the 4 nights, 5000 for paying with the card). Since I travel a lot for business where the meetings are held at IHG hotels, this will be easy to do. This offer, however, pales in comparison to the last two promotions where I got upwards of 61,000 points for completing several “tasks.”

  11. My offer was for 15 nights for 30,000 points. I called as I couldn’t achieve that number of stays with my other travel already booked. I was informed its a tiered promotion and your reward was based on your total stays. I still wasn’t convinced by the customer service person but still signed up. It doesn’t give me any information. We shall see.

  12. I cannot see any Spring promotion on my account. I am based in Europe, maybe that’s a reason…
